Good, productive and pleasant
What do you like best about the product?
Workflow, user interface. GIT style organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Online connection sometimes makes it slow and unreliable.
I miss topology optimization and generative design options.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We design our drones for delivery in Onshape
Great product, greater service
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, without any download and installation, feature updates every 3 weeks, always on time. Superb serivce, fast response and always solve problems. Even the feature is not there at the moment, it'll be in the pipeline and you know when it is actually got impletement. The company engage their customers very well, even for a startup with only several account, you are not forgotten. So you kow you are in good hands and you know they are improving all the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features are still missing like in sheet metal, countersunk holes are not possible. When it comes to patterns, skipping certain locations are not doable now. So let's say bits and bytes here and there, but as a customer, you know they will be added sooner or later and mostly sooner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
there's only 1 single source of data of the organization, data management is very easy so less discrepancies inside the organization. Also very easy to share desgins with external stake holders. Version, revision management are excellent, it took some time for us to really understand how to use it, but once you do, file based system without PDM features is definiely a no go anymore.
Onshape has changed the way we do business.
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape collaboration has made it so so easy to comunicate with customers. They are blown away that they can see whats happening and we can discuss jobs from a distance very easily. Ease of use and reliabilty has blown us away not to mention Onshape team is eager to help. We do have other more expensive CAD packages but Onshape is our go to package.
What do you dislike about the product?
If there was one thing that i find im not really in love with is the release management part of Onshape having said that the way that Onshape upgrades and improves im sure its only a matter of time and this part will only get better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Is it wrong to say just about everything we are a small business thats started nearly 4 years ago and we are coming up to our 1st year using Onshape. Our other CAD package is just such a pain with constant issues in so many areas from product help to upgrading .
Great for startups
What do you like best about the product?
Collaboration is seamless between multiple uses working on the same or related parts/assemblies. The system never crashes or stalls (unless your internet goes down.) It has all the design features we need and is getting better all the time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Large assemblies can be slow to load and update. Managing the organization of documents can be tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a small team and needed to develop CAD for a complex factory in a short time. This would not have been possible with any other CAD solution.
Excellent value for impressive capability (and it's a pleasure to use!)
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape has been invaluable for my freelance industrial design business since I made the switch a few years ago. I work with a variety of clients in many different categories from consumer electronics, medical, and toy and Onshape makes collaboration a seamless experience. Prior to Onshape I used Solidworks which felt institutionally bloated and Fusion 360 which always felt cobbled together. I really appreciate the plug-in with Keyshot and being able to rapidly update design variants has been incredibly useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ongoing annual subscription pricing is constantly hanging over my head when renewal comes around. Having said that, of the subscription CAD modeling packages I've tried I believe it to be one of the best values around. The base license of F360 is more affordable but it's a wash once you start adding their additional plug-in packages (which you admittedly may or may not need). I do wish they had a month to month option or at the very least spread the cost of the annual subscription across monthly payments as you can with Adobe products, would really help with cashflow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape makes powerful CAD modeling tools accessible from anywhere with an internet connection (even a laptop tethered to a cellular connection!) As a freelance industrial designer I collaborate frequently with users outside of my company and Onshape makes the experience intuitive to anyone familiar working with Google Docs. They're also constantly churning out improvements every few weeks and listen very closely to their users.
Onshape User friendly
What do you like best about the product?
User freindly Easy to Use. compared to other cad softwares it's more affortable.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Onshape this far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
sheet metal and Tubes, we need a good cad software to help us with this and Onshape gets us what we need and more. prouctivity is a lot better since we use it.
Enjoying the experience
What do you like best about the product?
The cloud based collaborative design is really appreciated and the ease of use of the PDM-like structure is also nice to have. I also like the ease to share a document with non-cad users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some advanced functions are missing when compared to Solidworks. The fact that the platform is not as vastly used like other CAD platform makes it a barrier when reaching out to potential collaborators.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not having to create a vault or server to share the drawings is of huge help and hopping a new user is really fast and easy. Having the PDM-like functionnality also help to share the drawings.
Onshape is a great web based CAD.
What do you like best about the product?
Web based so your computer doesn't crash and therefore your work is always saved. It has a lot of basic features however I'm told the more advanced features aren't as good as those within Solidworks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to always update other studios for the assembly to be current. I understand this is intentional but perhaps there could be a setting that the subcomponents always update so you don't have to manually go through and update to current.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to model products and designs.
OnShape: Solidworks, but it actually works.
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature is the simple fact that it works. Doesn't crash, doesn't runaway-undo your whole feature tree, doesn't corrupt your saved Part files... That's fairly important for a professional grade software. Solidworks doesn't come close.
Secondly, the easy access to the team for any bug reporting or feature requests. Also important for a professional grade software. Again, Solidworks doesn't come close. Dassault's VAR model is basically used car dealers but for software. Vultures, with absolutely zero added value.

What do you dislike about the product?
Complex part studios can be slow at times; not just rebuilds but simply making new features. Especially with a tempermental internet connection. There have been a few instances where we've had to halt and move onto other non-CAD tasks for a few hours and return later.
Surfacing tools still have some large gaps in some cases, though the gap to other tools is closing fast (thank you!).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an industrial design firm, good CAD is essential to our process and our clients' success. OnShape allows us to work from anywhere, at any time, without juggling files or maintaining a restrictive local network to store everything. We can work remotely with no additional planning or logistics.
Mostly, though, it just works. Unlike Solidworks (I sense a theme building...)

Excellent software for machine design
What do you like best about the product?
It is very intuitive and builds off of previously established general practiced. I love that it is a general hub for all form of documentation as well. I prefer it over Solidworks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the software can be a little buggy and glitch, you kind of have to problem solve your way through it and sometimes there is not clear reason why a process didn't work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has a lot of built in features that support technical writing, design drawings, and transformations of subassemblies that have been very helpful while writing documentation as well as communications between engineers.
