Onshape Review and feedback
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful is the quick assembly. The assembly is straight forward compared to other tools and has the most minor constraint requirement.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no compression of part features, which I experienced in NX Unigraphics. Long part features makes the 3D model to slow to upload and update.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape visualizes the design you want to execute and the easiness of the bill of material tracking.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Finish the trainings provided at the learning center.
Easy to learn but lacks features
What do you like best about the product?
The software is easy to learn. The commands are straightforward and user-friendly. Accessible anywhere you are with an internet connection. It is comparable to Fusion 360.
What do you dislike about the product?
Even with a solid internet connection, the application is slow. Sometimes I could finish a simple 2D drawing for a day. It is frustrating sometimes with such a simple task; the application responds for a very long time and sometimes crushes. Moreover, it lacks features compare to not cloud-based platform. I cannot work offline with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
OnShape helps me work at home and collaborate with my colleagues in real-time.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the pure Cloud CAD system. You can run Onshape on any device. There are some restrictions on some devices, but designing is possible. Since they are in the cloud system, their updates can happen anytime quickly but cause disruptions while designing. Their design modules are expanding month after month, but the hardware requirements aren't heavy compared to other CAD software.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not too fond of the Drawing module. Onshape is not focusing on the essential areas of a drawing. Drawings are used in all engineering departments, yet it is their weakest area. Cloud system is good and bad thing in some areas. Especially in slow internet areas. They do not have an offline mode.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving design issues. We use Onshape from start to end of our product. Collaborating between different engineers is a breeze. It solves the collaboration issue easily, which is a big problem in other companies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Onshape is not at the level of high-end CAD, but their Development team is constantly improving. I do not doubt that in the near future, they will catch up.

What do you like best about the product?
You can work from any location. All you need is access to the internet.

What do you dislike about the product?
Speed. The majority of the time, 2D is extremely slow. It has many delayed reactions for each command.
3D can also be slow, especially when the document is large.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working from home presents a challenge for engineers such as myself. However, Onshape facilitates our ability to design, share files, and collaborate with one another.

What do you like best about the product?
I can access Onshape anytime, anywhere. This is very convenient to use especially during this time of pandemic as a lot of employees were working at the convenience of their homes.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only dislike is the cabling procedure in Onshape, it is very tedious. I would like to suggest making cabling more convenient using x,y,z planes in the plotting of points.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The speed of use really depends on the server location and also on the speed of your ISP. You have to limit the number of assemblies inside of your document and need to remove unnecessary parts to increase its performance.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just need to improve some points, especially in cabling routings and adding some basic dimensions format in the 2D drawing.

Using the software not only helps develop CAD skill, but also perspective
Easy to Master
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape is easy to learn, is full of features typically reserved for High-end CAD programs, has intuitive UI, is excellent at customizing and labeling part prints. And the best thing yet is that it's free.
What do you dislike about the product?
It could handle parametric modeling/parts families and Assemblies better. Something along the lines of Siemens NX would be great. Other than that, I haven't found any significant problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In college, I primarily modeled mechanical components in Onshape and exported them to run sims. If Onshape had better analytical tools, that would be great too. Now, I mostly use it to fuel my hobbies or the occasional assembly for work.

If you get stuck or don't know how to model a feature, there are plenty of tutorials just a click away.

What do you like best about the product?
No installation means you can work anywhere. Basic features like constraining parts together are easy to use and only need one compared to others that need multiple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Updating versions sometimes make a couple of bugs, making it slow. As well as depending on the location you can experience slowdown regardless of internet connection.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy collaboration since anyone on the team can view your work if needed and work together side by side. Which makes the team is more productive. We can easily check files as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure there are no slowdown for all users by improving servers and maintenance.

What do you like best about the product?
Its accessibility is very user-friendly. I was able to access it from any computer I could access and work on my designs at any time. The commands were easy to find and easy to understand for beginners.
What do you dislike about the product?
Onshape's tools were very limited. I wanted more options or for the commands to be more user-friendly. I also wish to integrate shortcuts into the keyboard so that tasks aren't as repetitive or confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Onshape for my own enjoyment. I have projects in my head that I want to develop in a 3D space and Onshape provides me this opportunity. I am currently looking for new opportunities and my introduction to Onshape has increased my breadth of knowledge.

It's a good tool to start out with.

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to share designs easily, collaborate and document. Cloud-based format makes it easy to see active projects and quick overviews of past projects without the burden of opening and viewing multiple files or file types.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times rendering can take longer than expected. Also, there is too much of an emphasis on mouse-based inputs on the "browser version". More keyboard short cuts would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making new types of consumables for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Benefits are quick turnaround of parts as files can be readily exported to machining/printing formats.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Cloud and app features are extremely powerful -- highly recommended tool for remote and off-site workers/collaborators.
