Andres Pieroni Review
What do you like best about the product?
How the constraints work in the part studio is simply amazing, it helps a lot when modeling several parts that have geometrical dependencies between them.
The mate connectors mechanism for making assemblies is also amazing. It is so easy and intuitive to make complex assemblies in just a few clicks.

What do you dislike about the product?
When you click on parts/surfaces/edges you need to click them again, or click on the void, to unselect them, and because of that, I often have to zoom out to click the void when I mistakenly selected some parts. It would be a lot easier if by simple pressing escape the un-selection happens.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm a professional product designer and I use Onshape as my main CAD software for all my designs. Onshape helps you design a complete product within the same part studio with different constrains features and it benefits designing faster and more detailed.
Onshape from the perspective of a New designer
What do you like best about the product?
The lack of errors that are unrelated to the problem at hand. To explain further, with every CAD packages I've tried, there is a caution you have to use be the computer may crash or the system may completely fall apart because you tried something new. Unfortunately, that results in a stressful mindset that has nothing to do with the actual engineering issues at hand. Useing Onshape has completely changed my perspective on changes and as a result, I believe it can have a very large impact on the long-term gains as a result of faster innovation and fostering creativity with the peace of mind that there's no way to get into a corner that you can not get out of. I never have to worry about losing anything and trying new things and optimizing later is possible because of the flexibility provided by the features such as branches, versions.
Also, I have to mention the in-context features, basically, if you like to take advantage of in-context and procedurally generated CAD. Some of the features provided in Onshape really work better than anything else I've tried and that's a place where you can really take advantage of the cloud-based system to perform very complex relations. Which are again, very easy to mention and update and mo. Again with the peace of mind that you're not going to lose anything, ever. It's very freeing feeling, which I believe also improved the bottom line by decreasing the time/difficulty to make a change and reducing the chances of any non-value-added work like recovering files...

What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the things that can be improved: Drawing Features, Release Management, Assembly folders, etc. All of those are sufficient for most uses and they are constantly improving the system. This update gets pushed to everyone at the same time so you can rely on the package getting better over time without and without additional work, like updating local versions which may not be backwards compatible... that now seems like a pointless complexity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- It's easier to make changes (Faster, less expensive, easier to iterate)
- The configurations and in-context design features are amazing
- Branches and version history management
- Custom Feature scripts
- Linked tabs
- Rendering Addons
- Simulation Addons

Future proof CAD software
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about OnShape is how easy it is to manage and share file and documents. Moreover, OnShape lets you work simultaneously on the same file with other collegues, resulting in a shorter time to finish a project.
What do you dislike about the product?
Being a "young" software it lacks of some helpful features, found in other CAD softwares. However, I'm confident that is only a matter of time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can now read all file formats from other CAD system and easily import them on our the cloud library.
We have all the files on the cloud library, easily accessible by our team in every monent, and we don't need powerful computers to manage big CAD files

4 Years using Onshape in an Additive Manufacturing Business
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that we do not have to worry about maintaining software or backing up our projects, as well as the ease with which we can collaborate internally and with our customers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great to have more scan-based design (reverse engineering) functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly we optimize designs to suit additive manufacturing.
Cloud based CAD, No data loss and User friendly
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape self-paced learning - Helped me to understand product much better and shows a clear cut difference of Onshape with other System based CAD
Multiple part design in the single part studio
Onshape Assembly mating system
Being cloud-based CAD data is stored in Database which will prevent Data loss

What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing of any sort, Even if there are issues. Customer reporting it and Onshape's every month build update will include and rectify the issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Modeling multiple parts in the single part studio helps to model accurately rather than looking into the reference parts in new tab.
Live collaborator Interaction about client and CAD model when needed helps to make changes on the go.

Great embedded CAD!!
What do you like best about the product?
The versioning is the best feature I think, if I want to roll back the design, I can easily find the version.
What do you dislike about the product?
- we have a lot of folders, insert the part many times for big assembly takes more time to find the folder.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
versioning solve the main issue for me

What do you like best about the product?
collaboration, data management, editing imported CAD's, updates
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that there are no advanced inbuilt BOM app or plug in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We design a lot of consumer products. Onshape is a 100% cloud-based CAD system. One of the biggest advantages of this is how good it is for collaboration - Onshape allows multiple users to work on the same project simultaneously.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You will not regret your decision to move to Onshape. I was one of the best business decisions I have made.
Cost efficient, HIghly performanance 3D-CAD Tool
What do you like best about the product?
It's light and fast enough to be designed using a portable laptop in a remote workplace. The maintenance cost is also resonable, so I am really satisfied with the price/performance ratio.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of native libraries needed by designers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a company that manufactures equipment for semiconductor/display FAB. From simple models to models with thousands of parts, various projects were designed using Onshape. There are some functions that are lacking compared to the existing installed CAD tool, but all the employees in charge of design work in our company are using it with satisfaction.
It's been a natural transition from SW to Onshape. Onshape offers some great innovations!
What do you like best about the product?
Where do I start?
The change to working in the cloud has improved my workflow and allows multiple designers to collaborate and review our models. The computing requirements of my machine are minimised when compared with traditional CAD systems, and the transition between computers and mobile devices is seamless.
Using versions, branches and merging has allowed for rapid development and allows concurrent development of multiple designs.
Mate Connectors are an innovation that sets Onshape apart from the competition. They hugely simplify adding mates between parts and feel very natural after a few days of use.
Onshape's approach to designing parts inside of "part studios" is a logical way to create multiple parts that interact; sketches and dimensions can be shared between multiple parts inside of a part studio.
Finally, constant feature updates.

What do you dislike about the product?
Despite offering many innovative features, some essential functions seem to be missing. For example, Onshape cannot calculate the Area Moment of Inertia of a cross-section/face, a fundamental part of structural design.
Occasionally Onshape can hang for several seconds when modifying large assemblies. This is not common, but when it happens, it can be frustrating.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is convenient to have licensing tied to login credentials and not to a particular users machine, this allows users to work from different places. Not being an installed software frees us from being tied to certain PCs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the fully featured free version before you purchase, and go to the "learning center" to learn how to utilise this software fully. The only limitation is that all of your models are available to the community, which is a fair compromise for access to such a powerful tool.
Easiest 3D Cad
What do you like best about the product?
What I liked most is the ease of use as a beginner in the 3D world.
What do you dislike about the product?
I could not export and use it in Solid Cam, but it operates fine in Mastercam.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Process drawing that we use for production.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is an excellent software since it's all on the cloud, and there is no special hardware required.
