Very easy & nice
What do you like best about the product?
Easy shortcuts, nice UI. very user friendly and ease of use. loads of tutorials on how to use it. many features and functions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its cloud based, never bothered me too much but it would be useful to have a non cloud based version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Multiple people can work on one document easily
First year

What do you dislike about the product?
Rounds are not on par with Creo.
Not a big fan of mating in asembly, not so good at renaming features
Not a big fan of mating in asembly, not so good at renaming features
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a tool and any of the oters would also do the job
Great for collaboratiors
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of working together on a single document. It is simple to share work with outside vendors too. Product support has been great; I can email Kyle about any of my questions. Implementing new ideas is a breeze. The feature set keeps improving, especially from feedback.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main downside is the speed of onshape. Since it is in the cloud, the performance is not as snappy as a local CAD system like solidworks. This is mainly seen in assemblies. The second downside is part of its feature: Documents. Documents can get bogged down very quickly with part studios and assemblies and derived parts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onshape allows us as a team to work together on the same project and on the same documents. This just can't be done on other CAD programs. We are also able to leverage Featurescripts to make custom features for Onshape and to leverage configurations to make out designs more robust
Powerful Database CAD with a responsive team
What do you like best about the product?
Powerful data base driven CAD program that is easy and (most importatnly) efficient to use. With near monthly updates the funcationlity that is missing is quickly disappearing and with a super responsive customer support there are very few hurdles that don't have solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
Has some missing functionality and some features are still in their infancy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
a walled garden approach to cad to ensure all files are managed and captured. Also the ease of use for design is great, making new parts or spinning off old design into new design is so quick.
A New Leader in Collaborative Design
What do you like best about the product?
The top-down paradigm is particularly innovative, allowing the design of multiple parts in the same document. The browser-based application allows much easier use and collaboration without requiring expensive hardware. In general, the speed at which I'm able to realize my design intent is much faster than with previous CAD platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes references and in-context design features require manual updates which may take a while. This downside can be minimized with a thoughtful file structure, but it takes a bit of practice before this becomes second nature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mechanical design, build & integration, deployment & test.
Simple and efficient CAD tool.
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape is an efficient CAD tool, which is easy to use, comes with integrated PDM and brings the design collaboration to another level. It is location and computer system agnostic, provides unlimited cloud space, provides great collaboration functionality and is easy to implement.
What do you dislike about the product?
2D drawings are slow and lacking good editing tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrated PDM, collaboration, easy to learn and implement.
Onshape CAD review as a casual Solidworks user
What do you like best about the product?
I find Onshape has a very intuitive interace and often does want I want without jumping through a lot of hoops.
What do you dislike about the product?
Does not have a full PDM system for Non-CAD documents, so it is difficult to addother file types with quotes, or other data for a project. Also the workflow, while easy to use is not as fully featured as some other products.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The cloud based nature is great for resource management and for shareing product designs with suppliers and partners in foriegn countries.
The gift that keeps on giving
What do you like best about the product?
Integrated PDM and low cost were originally compelling but the whole package just keeps on delivering. It's very easy and quick to use, even building old Solidworks files from scratch. Everything from fillets to licences, enterprise settings, drawing templates and release management are quick and intuitive. I really love that the whole history of a product can be embedded in one document and there is traceability between different concepts and revisions, especially when paired with 3D printing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Partially related but I wish Arena was a bit more usable as a medical device quality management system. If CAD, PDM, PLM and QMS were all on one intuitive platform then we would get a licence for pretty much everyone in the office.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Secure and intuitive data management. We can have multiple people working simultaneously on a product and have transparent access to all concepts and revision history.
Productive and acceccable everywhere anytime
What do you like best about the product?
No bother if I saved my work or not. It's there.
What do you dislike about the product?
Processing updates takes longer i expected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy access to my history on work saves me time and file configuration management.
That's how CAD data management has to be done
What do you like best about the product?
Onshape's architecture specialises in creating dependencies and references between different components of an assembly. This makes a lot of sense, because in practice every assembly has parts that have to fit together. What is always complicated and time-consuming to plan with file-based systems can be done in no time at all with Onshape. As the data is consistently stored in the cloud single source of truth, the references are never lost.
Agile development with different variants and versions is child's play. A new version for an entire assembly, including drawings, is created in just a few seconds. Data is never lost and you can always go back to an old version. Onshape excels in the way it handles CAD data and can be seen as a prime example of the advantages of cloud applications, even outside of CAD applications (why doesn't MS Office work in the same way?). Did I already talk about updates? No need to worry about this anymore. All Onshape users are on the same page and data is always compatible for real time collaboration.
We users have adapted to deal with the problems of classic CAD data in the past. These days are over fortunately. Onshape impressively solves many of these pain points and shows a bright future for CAD work. This is just the beginning.

What do you dislike about the product?
Onshape now has a very good range of functions. However, certain detailed functions still lack the functionality required to keep up with the long-standing leaders in the CAD industry. However, with the many automatic updates, Onshape is quickly catching up and is also suitable for professional use in many areas of product development.
For many external partners who are not familiar with Onshape, online collaboration is still unfamiliar and they ask if I can send the data as an STP file by e-mail. This is not Onshape's fault, but it does take some patience and persuasion to realise the full potential of the cloud.

Excellent way of managing geometric reference between parts.
