Smartling is good but not great
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling is good in terms of speeding up my translations, the context tab is very good. It is fairly easy to add files into projects and to download them for publication or QA into other applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
Incorrect translations that were previously corrected are reverted in the review stage. Annoying TM notices. I have to add ID numbers which need to remain unchanged, but Smartling does not understand this & it is time-consuming to get the same segment to appear in both source and target segments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling is helping speed up translation work and also helping increase our TM and glossary so that these can be shared across multiple teams in our organization.
Ever-evolving business solution
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling provides a comprehensive solution for your business, allowing you to select only the elements that are relevant to your needs. There is no need for us to purchase tools that we will not utilize. Their customer care team is always eager to assist and proactively informs us about new features or any other updates that may be of interest. As someone who studied translation as a major a decade ago, I am incredibly impressed by the tools available today that enhance our work, improve efficiency, and help us reach a wider audience with our products. What would have been a dream few decades ago is now a reality. I cannot wait to see what next year brings! In our company, we use Smartling daily, and it has saved us probably thousands of hours of manual work!
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface could benefit from additional instructional guides and could be made even more accessible for beginners. I believe there is always room for improvement in this area. Simplifying the tools can enhance overall user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to deliver our content to customers in over a dozen languages efficiently. Thanks to Smartling, this task is achievable.

I have no reviews. I have nothing I don't like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I spent a long time without developing my English, so now I'm more relaxed about daily translations.
Working with Smartling <10 years, I can see the progress - but there is more to be achieved.
What do you like best about the product?
Being online is a great advantage for us LPMs and all linguists, as it can be accessible anywhere. Not imposing license fees for translators is also great and essential.

Not that I dislike, but while testing features I see areas for improvement and, sometimes, it's difficult to get those implemented.

Smartling allows us to use integrations and translate thousands of strings effectively.

The translation memory and interface overall is easy to use, if you are already familiar with the translation process.

Reporting in Smartling is not always useful since we have multiple teams with multiple projects using one account with different billing structures.
Accounting for project costs have been extremely challenging
Issue management is difficult to use- difficult to assign what to do with each issue.
We are facing a number of integration challenges with Contentstack. Missing entries, re-publishing process, workflow routing.
Removing inactive accounts or changing permissions is difficult from an admin perspective.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartling is helping us solve our Translation Memory issue. Now, since all of our content is in one place, it is easy to search for terms we have already translated to help create new content.
The AI Translation also shows great promise and we will be switiching over to that for certain langauges.

An interesting online CAT tool solution
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling enables both PMs and translators to work online, as it integrates the entire translation project workflow. Translators are immediately notified by email when a project is assigned and can get to work straight away.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like Smartling to be able to display the POs for each project and clearly show the breakdowns. I'd also like the platform to be a little less confusing when it comes to the various options for saving work between Save page and Submit. The Quality check stage could also be improved, as the results don't appear next to the translation but in another window, which makes checking more tedious than with other CAT tools.

Smartling makes it easy to translate online instead of using a CAT tool in the form of software.
Easy and comprehensive translation tool
What do you like best about the product?
Once you grasp the basics, Smartling makes localizing content into various languages straightforward. It provides a wide range of options to customize each language’s settings. Additionally, its seamless integration with services like Salesforce Knowledge simplifies the process of localizing, reviewing, and publishing multi-language articles to our help center. The CAT tool is also very helpful and intuitive to use. Customer service and support are top-notch; our account manager goes above and beyond to ensure that our operations remain smooth.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Smartling is a solid product overall, the learning curve can be steep for users who are unfamiliar with translation tools. However, once you get past the initial learning phase, it becomes much easier to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Localizing our knowledge database (over 300 help articles) into multiple languages, while adjusting each region's specifics.
Very good tool for translations
What do you like best about the product?
Quite a good number of features including machine translations and good amount of integrations. The customer support is no doubt fantastic, specially a lot of help that we received while integrating was quite useful. The implementation was quite simple and required minimal gudiance. The documentation is quite elaborate, good and easy to understand. Integration with various AI platform as well as Smartling based AI models is definitely a plus and we are looking forward to use the same to fastrack our localisation processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing is the UI for viewing jobs, projects and strings, which can be a little more intuitive. It is not bad but slightly difficult to navigate for first timers. Will be nice if that can be made more intuitive.

Localisation is being made simpler and quicker. Use of translation memory and machine translations has reduced the overall cycle time.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartling's platform, although not perfect, enables translators to work effortlessly and seamlessly in a multi-format job.

The glossary terms are not always respected and its machine translation accuracy has to be honed.
