A Powerful Tool With Many Missed Opportunities

What do you like best about the product?
The plethora of features on Smartling covers everything a localisation manager might need for running projects of all sizes and scopes, which is not available in many TMSs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main issue is that all these features seem to live in isolation from each other, making it very unintuitive for new users; it would be great if the product design was reconsidered with usability in mind
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Translating multiple software products in a continuous development model and automating the process of string translations saved us countless hours of job handling and allowed us to focus on other areas of the process.

Best TMS company with a forward-looking product vision

What do you like best about the product?
The TMS has every feature you need for managing translations. There are exicting product releases every month. The Smartling team goes above and beyond to help customers come up with the best solutions, whether it's implementing an existing integration, advising on best practices, or developing a new product feature to meet the evolving localization needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would be great if the reporting features were more flexible and robust.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Smartling platform helps us centrally manage translation and localization across the organization, for around products and over a dozen platforms. The tech is solid, sustainable and scalable. We have been able to automate most of our workflows through Smartling's APIs and integrations, which significantly reduced our time to market.

Smartling: Great product

What do you like best about the product?
There are many great features but I think my favourite is the variety of ways you can set up different workflows to cater for various scenarios in specific projects. The filtering options in the Strings view are also really detailed and allow you to be incredibly specific about what you're looking for. Overall, I find it to be a very user-friendly product. The customer support has been fantastic any time I've had queries or issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not a lot to dislike, to be honest. I've been using the platform daily for almost 3 years and recent updates have improved a few things I found cumbersome or confusing before. There are a couple of minor things I would improve, such as an additional filtering option in the Word Counts report to filter by linguist, and the ability to download reports or export strings in XLSX format rather than CSV.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company had been using Smartling for about 4 years before I joined, so we had everything in place already and a well-established process. This provided a great foundation for me to start using the tool from the get-go and I was very quickly able to figure out how everything worked. What I find most beneficial is the cloud-based, collaborative aspect. Having come from a company using standalone installations of TMS and CAT tools, it was great to see how all our teams worked within the same tool and it help to significantly reduce the amount of file transferring and communication between the various parties.

Flexible and promising cloud-based Translation Management System

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Smartling to translate and localize different use cases and content types. Lately, my focus has been Web content, so one of the features I love most is the AEM Connector, which helps streamline all the steps quickly and helps us keep our translated local sites updated. The In-Context preview is very valuable when providing agencies and reviewers with the context of the information they are translating, it also works pretty well with video captions. Workflow automation and Neural Machine Translation integration are a plus. The Customer Support and team assigned to Corporate accounts are outstanding! Very responsive and supportive!
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides I'm mentioning here are things that, luckily, are already part of Smartling roadmap. Platform roles need more flexibility and granularity. The old interface displayed for specific roles is confusing but will be migrated fully into the new one in the short term. Customed reports are still limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've been using it for many years and seen constant evolution and Platform enhancements toward productivity. New Dashboards, features that don't require you to contact the team anymore and can be done/customized by Customers instead. I'm excited about the roadmap, particularly AI and Machine Translation.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartling supports a broad range of languages, which is great because allows you to have everything centralized in their system rather than splitting the workload. The interface allows you to control everything yourself, which makes the job as a project manager much easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface, besides being very comprehensive is also not very user-friendly, the context information is not displayed clearly all the time so often you need to open external links.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team uses Smartling to translate operational content and localize variables. We operate in 31 markets and our content needs to be translated rapidly and effectively. Smartling helps us do that.

A decent option for translation content

What do you like best about the product?
One major limitation of other vendors is how they manage screenshots or images with text that needs translated. Smartlings setup is easily the best
What do you dislike about the product?
No chat or ticket translation ability. This limits us to only using them for our Help Center content

Smartling is cool, but sometimes chaotic

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the UI is very clean and easy to be used at all levels. E.g. context and ch. limits are very clearly displayed in the CAT tool view, which makes it easier to deal with a large number of linguists. Also, issues are clearly flagged.
What do you dislike about the product?
The content search function is not very precise, specially with very big translation memories. This means that depending on where you start your search from, you'll likely to see different results: I often have to enter a single TM to be able to find precise results. Also, it's not always clear how you can go from strings view to the regular view, and vice versa. It would be very important to have it clearly expressed somewhere, as the two views work very differently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes managing big teams very easy. All the info you need is clearly displayed in one place, e.g. in the jobs view you can see the status and the steps completed. Also, the Beta strings view is very helpful.

What do you like best about the product?
With the simple and clean UI of Smartling, it's super easy to navigate through the platform. The SmartMatch feature is super helpful and comes in handy to help me keep the consistency of my work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to see the strings in String view and dashboard view is a lot different, and I wish both should have the same attribute, i.e searching some part of the key variant only works in String view mode.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working on multiple projects and languages at the same time and also the 3-step translation workflow really helps improve the quality of the translation, which is crucial.
