Smartling is cool, but sometimes chaotic
What do you like best about the product?
I like that the UI is very clean and easy to be used at all levels. E.g. context and ch. limits are very clearly displayed in the CAT tool view, which makes it easier to deal with a large number of linguists. Also, issues are clearly flagged.
What do you dislike about the product?
The content search function is not very precise, specially with very big translation memories. This means that depending on where you start your search from, you'll likely to see different results: I often have to enter a single TM to be able to find precise results. Also, it's not always clear how you can go from strings view to the regular view, and vice versa. It would be very important to have it clearly expressed somewhere, as the two views work very differently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It makes managing big teams very easy. All the info you need is clearly displayed in one place, e.g. in the jobs view you can see the status and the steps completed. Also, the Beta strings view is very helpful.

What do you like best about the product?
With the simple and clean UI of Smartling, it's super easy to navigate through the platform. The SmartMatch feature is super helpful and comes in handy to help me keep the consistency of my work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to see the strings in String view and dashboard view is a lot different, and I wish both should have the same attribute, i.e searching some part of the key variant only works in String view mode.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working on multiple projects and languages at the same time and also the 3-step translation workflow really helps improve the quality of the translation, which is crucial.

There is nothing I dislike about the Smartling.

Job assignments are very smooth. I do not have to worry about them anymore.

What do you like best about the product?
UI is adjustable, pretty straightforward and doesn't take much time to adapt. Also, I find the 'Context' tab very useful, and the 'Additional details' pane is very helpful too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Two users cannot safely work on the same file. E.g. if two users work on the same file, the system counts that all translations in the file were done only by the user who eventually submitted the saved strings, and the other's user work remains unnoticed (and, thus, cannot be paid)

In general, it provides me with all the necessary tools for translation

The usage of the software is very friendly and easy to use. It gives me visibility about the approval process and deadlines to submit my review back. I can easily track my own reviewing as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have nothing to say that I dislike. Everything works very well and attend my personal needs.

Nowadays, I am the point of contact to marketing team to translate our HQ materials to local language (Brazil). With the usage of smartling our organization gained productivity and created an easy way to back and forth communication in respect to content that is spread and shared with other countries in the world.
Very versatile tool to manage all our localization needs.

Inability to change string segmentation rules.

Solid platform for localization, although not perfect
What do you like best about the product?
Smartling is a solid solution for software, web and app localization. It integrates with most systems and simplifies your translation workflow. I especially like the integration with other platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although very powerful, some features are not perfect, such as the recognition of PDF files or the segmentation of complex DTP documents.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
From a software developer's point of view, Smartling takes off the burden of complex export and import procedures, allowing you to focus on development. It's also very easy to onboard new users.
Easy to use, straight-forward CAT tool

I like that I can see other suggestions of previously translated paragraphs that are similar and match the one you are currently working on.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be helpful to have the option to open issues for more than just one string at once in case you have multiple strings with the same issue.

Smartling helps to get consistent translations so that different translators are using the same term base and tonality, resulting in a smooth overall result.

I use Smartling daily as a full-time professional translator. The platform is intuitive yet powerful, with a robust translation memory and fully customizable glossary. The team behind Smartling is responsive, supportive, and always easy to work with.

What do you dislike about the product?
The machine translations provided are often of low quality and require a complete rewrite. In many cases, editing them takes just as much time as translating from scratch.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Flexible working hours, very little billing or bookkeeping required, and payments are always made on time.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is how simple using Smarling to translate is, the platform is easy to use and beginner-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, it is hard to find the project to work on, as it should be assigned to you, to see it on the Available to accept or current work section.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Few bugs on large strings can be a challenge, they're hard to save once their translation is finished and the whole page switches to the next one without saving the content, this problem is now fixed thanks to Smarling after hearing out users comments. This helps me out in translating large strings without losing the whole translated string once I save it.
