Great Potential

What do you like best about the product?
Lot of plug and play when it comes to automation workflows.
Clean and intuitive ui.
Ability to see if anyone else on the team might be working on the same space.
What do you dislike about the product?
The finer details of tweaking modules requires at least a little bit of coding knowledge and understanding.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're trying to really cut out having to log into 3 different apps with what can essentially just be a Yes/No button click in something like Slack. It didn't take long to get some proof of concepts going.

What do you like best about the product?
Tines has a feature loaded application that uses modern components workflows to easily solve a lot of problems that security teams are facing. Tines provides built in solution with its well documented story libraries that we can use to understand what we can do with our existing set of data. This inclued adding new functionality, new webhooks, integrating with Slack. The enormous number of AWS integration helps us to solve a lot of issues within a very less period of time. The have a very clean user interface for everyone to understand the product. Monitoring is as important for security teams and they provide logging and monitoring out of the box which is a great thing.
What do you dislike about the product?
No issues until now. The products works good.Ideally recommend to include custom sign on platform integration that would help corporate identity platforms to be integrated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We usually prefer to use python for automating a lot of our problems. With times we always have a better approach in terms of how easy we can get things done, auditing our solution, having logs and permissions, workflow editor to quickly change and add the features and deploy it within seconds. With tines our teams started building productive solutions within sprints and were able to progress with the Yearly schedules as faster as ever. The no code platfor allows non technical team in our people and managers who has lesser experience and expore to code to bring their ideas quickly and fast to production.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a really great tool for teams who understand the importancr automation exists in Security team

The most operationally impactful product we have

What do you like best about the product?
We had previously given up on SOAR platforms and wrote our own because vendors either limited integration API calls or made you write code to create or customize the integrations. Tines' ability to make any HTTP call, transform responses (arrays, strings, dates, etc), and make any branching decision we want (with native execution logging) gives us the flexibility and power of a Turing-complete programming language in an intuitive UI that allows us to create and iterate on workflows in less than 20% of the time. Adding new alert enrichment can be done in 5 minutes vs 1+ hours because it can take as little as dragging one pre-templated action into a story vs setting up a new API or Cloud Function.

All of this allows us to spend our time on security, not architecture.

In addition to the above features, some of our favorite aspects of Tines are its ability to:

- Initiate a workflow through webhooks with arbitrary data (e.g. data from our SIEM) or via cronjobs (backups, historic alert analysis, health checks, etc)

- Create modules/functions through "send to story" and groups

- Create test workflow branches to ensure they work properly before modifying "in production"
What do you dislike about the product?
Some more nuanced workflows, e.g. doing threshold alerting on inbound events grouped by a specific field, can be a little difficult. That being said, Tines' team quickly gave us examples that we could import/copy+paste into our tenant and Tines recently released a public library of stories that you can import into your tenant, allowing you to use and fork work that others have done.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our internal SOAR system was not sustainable as it grew to about 4,000 lines of code that only one person understood. Now, anyone can come into Tines and understand and expand on current with minimal training.

This ease of adoption has allowed us to use Tines for security alert orchestration, IT and security device health checks, and Slack slash commands to gather information from internal APIs. Soon, will will be adding phishing email triage, using several of the existing libraries that Tines has available.

As a result, we have built out a more stable, extendable, and sustainable SOAR platform that now provides value to multiple teams across the business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do not let bad experiences with SOAR keep you from trying Tines; it is a game-changer.

Simple to use automation platform

  • April 21, 2022

What do you like best about the product?
The intuitive features that mimick what a general user does every day on a computer makes the platform easy to use. I was able to create an integration with several resources in no time, by the simply having an API.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation is off to a good start, but I would appreciate some more examples, particularly using the Event Transform action; and a better detailing of how to create an utilize a RESOURCE, which is a really good feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had the issue of using a Learning Management System (LMS), along with several third part content-providers. Unfortunately, the LMS we have does not automatically collect information from those third-party content providers, meaning that learners had to come back to the LMS and manually report their progress. Using Tines, we are now able to collect information from those third-party content provided and automatically update the LMS to accurately show learner progress in external training platforms.

Security automation made real

  • April 21, 2022

What do you like best about the product?
Allowed me to create complex and meaningful security outcomes quickly and effectively. I was able to achieve outcomes that would have taken days or weeks of coding in a couple of hours.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to see integrations with Configuration Management tools like Ansible, and perhaps Terraform Cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wanted to automatically solve compliance issues on AWS, for example, to close down S3 buckets that were world-readable, encrypt buckets that had a certain tag, etc. Using Tines I was able to get a workflow that met my use case with no pain and very rapidly. An additional benefit is a sense that I can create many more workflows, enabling me to support my end customers with any new ideas that they may require.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend it strongly if you are looking to generate security automation solutions that integrate multiple platforms into a single workflow. Define your requirements in advance, use pre-existing templates as a basis whenever possible to speed up your development, and join the Slack channel, where they are very responsive and helpful.

Saves valuable time while helping automate integrations

  • April 07, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tines help me save time by making it easy to integrate systems without needing to research each platform's APIs and to test each integration to ensure accuracy.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really haven't found anything that I dislike about Tines. They have made some significant progress since I've started using the platform. I will update this review if I find anything else missing or problematic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In just a few days, I've made significant progress in automating a workflow that analyzes a blocked domain to which a user is requesting access. This request will now go through Tines to evaluate and allow this access without needing our team's interaction.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with the Community Edition and see how well it works. You'll find the platform invaluable.

Tines is a great and easy to use.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and the GUI. The story-boards are simple and not cluttered or bloated. All you need to do is drag and drop and connect the tiles with lines. There are plenty of templates that also contribute to the ease of use.
The Tines engineers are very helpful and always available.
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation needs updating. Also, when using formulas, functions, etc., the documentation doesn't show which actions to use them with.
The documentation should also show the events that result from those actions and functions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are automating manual tasks since we have a very small engineering/analyst team. We are only 2 people and we have to perform incident response and triaging for Crowdstrike detections.
Tines is helping us automate our alerting, notification, and ticket creation activities that would normally have to be done manually.

What do you like best about the product?
I love how you can post curl commands and simplify calling APIs, parsing data, and taking action.
What do you dislike about the product?
No major dislikes at the time. Still exploring its capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently attempting to automate vulnerability management workflows between static code analysis scanning tools and internal issue trackers.

Elegant solution for integrations

  • March 03, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tines provides a beautiful, easy-to-use, and developer-friendly product for developing integrations. We found it extremely easy to create a sophisticated and clean implementation of an authenticated HTTP endpoint that would allow us to trigger our CI/CD environment from any source that could send a webhook with authentication. Tines saved us a lot of time and effort with this kind of infrastructure "glue" that can be time-consuming and difficult to configure correctly.
What do you dislike about the product?
WYSIWYG editors are convenient, and Tines' is beautiful and responsive, but it deviates from infrastructure-as-code practices that we prefer to use as developers. It would be even better if Tines stories had the option to be implemented as stories-as-code and stored in version control.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Tines to connect business systems. Specifically, Tines allows us to create event pipelines from an upstream source of truth to a downstream system to perform automated actions for managing users and other resources.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Create a private account and play with creating integrations. You'll be impressed at what you can make and how little time it takes you.

  • March 01, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple and intuitive graphical editing of playbooks, pre-canned playbook components, full suite of essential base components necessary for modern SOAR.
What do you dislike about the product?
Inability to extend capabilities into secure environments, e.g. on-premise or inside cloud tenancies without exposing API's/etc to public Internet in some way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security automation & orchestration use cases.
