Great for teamwork and company collaborations.
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can create various types of sheets to help your direct team or even forms that can be sent to other departments of the company thah will evidently help the entire organization with all the collaborations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is very user friendly and has a great user interface for all people to use whether your experienced or not with tech, but I would like to see some of the basic and more often used features to be easier to access or seen on the main selections.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is solving problems in many aspects for individual tasks to entire project management and is doing so all in real time. There is no need to go back and forth and wait because multiple people can adjust anything live and get the work flow going smoothly.
Smartsheet is the full package for Project Management!
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is very user-friendly, easy to learn, and offers great tutorials! As soon as I started using Smartsheet I fell in love with how organized and efficient it makes my project management. I love the dashboards and the work insights.
What do you dislike about the product?
I love all the Smartsheet features, especially now that my company is an enterprise user and gets all the cool features like dynamic view, data shuttle etc. I dislike that if you are a regular user, you don't get these features, or there is a cell linking limit. Also, I wish you didn't have to purchase the plan for multiple users, for example a small business might be the sole owner but still want all the features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows us to manage our projects with multiple stakeholders. I work in Quality Improvement, so I need to track over 500 stakeholders and engage them in surveys monthly. I love the ability of Smartsheet to allow me to engage with a big audience with surveys and then analyze their responses using the work insights or my own metrics sheet. I also use the Dashboards to measure and display their responses, which allows me to make quality improvement decisions and report to upper management in an organized way. We also use Smartsheet as a customer-facing "website" where they can interact with our dashboard to learn more.
Makes collaboration and gathering data so much easier!
What do you like best about the product?
I love that I can work on a smart sheet with my teams across the company. The forms function gets a ton of use. We use it for most of our events that don't require payment for registration. The style looks more professional than using a google form. Absolutely love it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't know if this is a company option, but we are limited to paid seats now, which makes it hard to share sometimes. I find some of the templates confusing and would like a short video tutorial on some of the more in-depth ones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to share forms with users outside our organization is the main way we use smart sheets. It saves us time and is very user friendly. I also like that we can save projects as templates so that we can reuse them.
Smartsheet in Teacher Preparation
What do you like best about the product?
We use Smartsheet to onboard and track all our teacher education students. Smartsheet helps us manage both data and documents; the attachment feature is tops! We've gone from 3-4" thick files for each candidate filling 7-8 file drawers to a single file drawer with files holding only critical information.
We use multiple forms to gather data from candidates, supervisors, and school partners.
Smartsheet was just the tool we needed to go paperless. It has made us much more efficient!

What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is such a powerful tool that it's challenging to learn everything it can do. We are sure there are features we could use to extend our efficiency, but a) finding time to learn, and b) finding the tutorials or guides is not that easy. We rely mostly on another power-user on our campus, but that's not a good use of her time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had trouble finding a collaborative way to share placement information across 3 employees who needed access to the information. In addition, we needed a way to gather and store data for state and federal reporting purposes. Smartsheet was a solution that allowed us to meet those needs at a relatively low cost.
Smartsheets for everyone
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Smartsheet offers premade templates that I can tailor to my project, so I don’t have to start from scratch. I also really appreciate the feature that lets me move rows up and down by clicking and dragging, which makes organizing my sheets much easier. Overall, Smartsheet is great for building dashboards.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it isn't easy to link multiple projects or templates together as blanks without pulling old information or relinking items each time. I would like it if it was easier to link multiple template sheets together to work as a group.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet serves as a centralized place to store data so our team can easily access it and add additional information, which helps keep everyone on the same page. We’re also able to use templates to ensure our work stays consistent and uniform across the team.
Good for Anyone without a Development Background
What do you like best about the product?
It's great for simple, single entity (sheet) data entry.
What do you dislike about the product?
What seems like a la carte pricing means that some functionality is not out of the box without paying additional fees. Automating anything even remotely complex requires significant additional cost and at worst, consulting professional services. Smartsheet provides data entry forms, but unbelievably, not the ability to display data already entered in the same nice form, so very poor UI overall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet gives my management a way to show project status with a simplistic dashboard.
Smartsheet helps me keep dozens of academics organized and on the same page.
What do you like best about the product?
As a higher education project manager, I often organize team members from VPs to administrative assistants to students to researchers. Smartsheet allows me to present important information in an interactive format, making expectations easy to find and deadlines clear. Project sponsors have one place to access a status update, and our team can access relevant information with a simple click. The bonus is that structures are created that provide road maps for future projects, eliminating redundancy and improving consistency in process and product.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Smartsheet is intuitive to spreadsheet gurus and visual project management aficionados, some users find the software more difficult to navigate. We manage this discrepancy in user experience by thoughtfully curating which team members need to access the Smartsheet and finding other ways to communicate with other stakeholders. Dashboarding and some of the more robust features of Smartsheet are not hard to navigate, but I do find it hard to find the time to become as adept at this feature as I would like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet simplifies how we share tasks, project updates, and goals across multiple units at our university. We coordinate projects ranging from policy revision to event management to strategic planning in Smartsheet. With each project, our team members become more familiar with and devoted to the software. We eliminate the need for constant emails, calls, and texts by keeping progress updated in our Smartsheets and creating a record of the history of our work that is beneficial to future projects.
In essence, Smartsheet solves the problem of confusion and panic. Keeping everything in one easy-to-use place gives sponsors and stakeholders peace of mind, allowing them to focus on moving toward our goals.

Program Manager in Health Services Research
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet saves me a ton of time collecting data from colleagues via forms, organizing data through reports, and sharing data with colleagues through dashboards and other published links. Our teams are dispersed, virtual teams that work across disciplines and institutions. Smartsheet keeps us connected in a way that MS Teams cannot.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downside of Smartsheet is the implementation burden of getting busy colleagues to adapt how they work to use it optimally. I rely heavily on forms because people are used to web forms, but it isn't easy to get extended team members to use other novel features, like the Update Requests. People are so busy that introducing a new tool, even one that can save time and energy in the long run is a heavy lift because the initial investment to learn how to use it is too daunting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet has provided a platform to manage projects collaboratively, allowing the workload to be distributed between team members. Smartsheet has also allowed us to visualize our workflows for executive leadership to effectively communicate progress toward current objectives and capacity for future objectives.
Utilizing has helped to increase productivity, define responsibilities, and enforce accountability
What do you like best about the product?
Most helpful part of utilizing smartsheets, is being able to lead a project from a central location for all stakeholders. I like to equate utilizing smartsheets as the same as creating an outline for your rough draft you, you see all your points and sources in the same location, and you are left with an amazing starting point. It makes it easy to see a project all the way through, and beyond implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The templates in SmartSheets are meant to be helpful, but often don't incorporate template for the various types of task that can be supported. I am often tasked with creating my own template to follow specific to the healthcare operations industry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem of collaboration across service lines and remote versus in-office staff is mediated by this centralized location allowing for proper collaboration with minimum inconvenience or confusion to the team members supporting the project.
LEAN with Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
Live, bi-directional functionality. Dashboards to display KPIs, reports relevant to the dashboard's audience and compile resources, including files and links. In comparison, Excel and SharePoint do not support autonomous teams as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've been able to leverage training and the community to work through all my obstacles except one. We have a particular use case where an accepted request then needs to populate some columns into a new sheet, and then certain cells in the new sheet need to be linked back to the "tracker" sheet where the requests live. We have been manually cell-linking to accomplish this, but because we do it for each accepted request, it would be great to find a way to automate it. I haven't identified a way to do this with information in the training modules or community, but I haven't yet submitted my question to the community, which will be my next step.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems: missed deliverable dates, missed invoicing/billables, missed customer experience opportunities, missed employee engagement opportunities, and missed updates to processes/standard work.
By using Smartsheet we are increasing the efficacy of our communication, supporting autonomous completion of tasks/projects, and effectively delivering and billing for our work. The downstream impacts have materially benefited the customer experience and employee engagement.
