An incredibly powerful tool, which has quickly become of basis of a large amount of our work.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is an incredibly powerful tool, which we have used as a basis for a large variety of the work we complete throughout our day-to-day. Running HR and SHEQ forms and data, recording and processing large amounts of on-site data, which can be used together through the help of cross-sheet formulas. The integration with PowerBI also allows this product to go even further.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it is incredibly adaptive and innovative, it is missing some necessary features provided in excel. A missing feature would include having a column set only to time, with the ability to use formulas that can calculate time. I have to treat it as if it is text, and the formulas used to manipulate it are very extensive and bloated. Including additional formulas found within excel (Such as XLookup) would go further to improve this product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An adaptive way of programming our site operatives' day-to-day tasks is that they can update themselves with a detailed record of work undertaken. An efficient way of showing data, such as the location and status of equipment within an equipment register, displayed on an informative and easy to use dashboard. Cross-sheet connections allow for a clear overview of a large amount of data being provided daily. The report functions allow for information from multiple sheets to be displayed within one sheet while only showing the necessary columns for the task.

Power of simplicity

What do you like best about the product?
Simple tool with good interface - suitable for basic- to medium-diffuculty project planning. It is easy to integrate projects within a program, create dashboards and reports.

Smartsheet has good visuals. Along with task filtering functions, you can use it to present general timelines without much effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you're in for advanced planning. Smartsheet is not for you. It simply lacks features such as custom calendars, resource management etc. If you'd like to integrate shcedules created in MS Project, features are limited. You cannot have an online integration, only one-time import function is available.

While Smartheet looks nice and can be included in corporate presentations, you can only do so by taking screenshots. There is no timeline export function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smarthseet hepls me to integrate project shcedules. I have detailed schedules in separate sheets and a general overview of key milestones in my program view. The tool is also great for making dashboards.

Smartsheet is a very versatile tool for project management

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use when setting up new sheets and the management of notifications is key to running projects in an efficient manner, and Smartsheet does this. The templates are useful and can be modified for your own individual use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very little to dislike about it, as the user interface is so easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Running projects between departments within a company can be hard with communication normally through email trails, but Smartsheet enables live tracking of projects to track progress and assign tasks to people making it more efficient. Having templates for tasks that can be shared with other departments for milestones and for highlighting project issues to discuss and resolve.

A Versatile Tool that will work well if you thought out your use cases.

What do you like best about the product?
The range of tasks one can do. We use it for:
1. Project planning and tracking.
2. Surveys and polls (with complex branching with if conditions).
3. Importing a spreadsheet file and using it seamlessly!
4. Send notifications to MS teams! (my favorite)
5. Some of the familiar Excel formulas are also usable in SmartSheet!
6. Detailed documentation
7. Community activity to reach out to people and find a solution to your business case.
8. API access
9. Access control for viewing and editing is excellent. By defining a user's role, we could exercise good control means we could avoid accidental deletion or modification of data
10. the reports feature can filter the data specific to the user.
11. Custom Filters!
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Creating dashboards sometimes feels like we are doing a workaround.
2. Date keeps changing if users across different timezones collaborate in a sheet. There is no option to set a one-time zone like PDT or UTC. SO Date triggers sometimes are not working as expected when.
3. More control options could be provided for attachments and comments with alerts.
4. Mobile is mainly read-only. Similar products like GSheets and Excel are very mobile-friendly.
5. we only have high-level Triggers in alerts. We only have the 'OR' condition and not 'AND' condition. if we want to use a combination of criteria. Excel VBA does a better job. (I'm not a coder, so I don't know how to use the APIs, but they are worth exploring)
6. Cross-platform integration with MS Power Automate could provide us with more options. Currently, the triggers are minimal. It's very challenging for non-coders to apply conditions to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. My most common task is to plan my team member's tasks for the day, and they should receive alerts to their emails and MS teams when the job is assigned.
I can accomplish this by adding a person column and using the Power automate to trigger when a new row is added. I read rows, get the person's emails, and send alerts to their MS team groups.

Also, I was able to create a dashboard overview of the number of tasks done by each member for a range of time by using the start time and end time columns in my project

Using this sheet, I made a report where each individual could see their assigned tasks and update them. This avoids accidental modification/deletion.

2. When we want employees to submit information/files, we can use the forms feature, which can also accept the Files like images/documents. Then we apply triggers, so we do not have to check it regularly. also we can bulk download the attachments in one go.

3. the 'Cell History' feature proved helpful when determining who and when the status is modified.

Smarter Sheet

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. It almost binds the project from end to end.
2. Linkage of various worksheets
3. Reports are pretty handy when it comes to the consolidation of various sheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Limited visualisation and functionalities in the dashboard.
2. What I most hate about smart-sheet is its inability to copy and paste formulas from one sheet to another.
3. There must be one more access criterion other than "Editor can't share," where a user may enter values but cannot change the sheet's structure, i.e., deletion of rows/columns, etc.
4. During back-up, dashboards should also be included.
5. There must be some formula based on which we can make a cell, a row or a column inactive (greyed-out) for data entry (other than lock functionality)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A reform project has been underway since 2017 involving various stakeholders, and in this project, the smart-sheet tool plays a vital role in data collection, management and scoring purposes.

Smart sheets

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets has proven to be an indispensable tool for our business in managing our projects and tracking our progress. With its automated features and intuitive interface, it has greatly streamlined our processes and saved us valuable time and resources.

One of the most significant benefits of using Smartsheets is the increased accountability it provides. The program allows us to assign tasks to team members, set deadlines and track progress, ensuring that everyone is aware of their responsibilities and can be held accountable for meeting them. This has not only improved efficiency but also encouraged collaboration and teamwork.

In addition to project management, Smartsheets has helped us in tracking our production and inventory. We are able to monitor our stock levels and make informed decisions based on real-time data, avoiding overstocking or stockouts that could result in financial losses.

Overall, Smartsheets has been a game-changer for our business, empowering us to work smarter, not harder. Its user-friendly interface, versatile features, and robust capabilities have made it an invaluable asset in our day-to-day operations.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe that incorporating more of Microsoft Excel's functions and features into Smartsheets would greatly enhance its usability. My ultimate goal is to transition away from using Microsoft Excel altogether and rely solely on Smartsheets for storing and managing data in the cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The roles and responsibilities have been clearly defined, along with a system of accountability and direction to streamline benefits.

Smartsheet, my Best Friend at work

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. Efficient. Smartsheet is a combined Email, SharePoint, and Excel. No need to switch software as they are all in the same interface.
2. Reliable. Automated workflows help send notifications. It's like you have another employee doing the task.
3. Organized and collaborative. It acts as a File Storage and Communication tool. Files and comments can be stored at row, sheet, and workspace levels. Users in the sheet can see or track real-time updates.
4. Familiar. Basic features are somehow similar to excel and google sheets.
5. Transparent but with control. The access type of each user can be customized (viewer, commenter, editor) depending on the level of confidentiality. It reduces security risks.
6. Time efficient. The dashboard helps summarize and share important details of reports without spending much time. Reports can be narrowed down depending on what you need to see.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a lot of good features in Smartsheet, but you have to invest time in learning those features to maximize their function. It took time before I created a powerful monitoring.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is very powerful and reliable. It's like having another person work together with you. I am more productive when using Smartsheet. My reports are done in no time.

What do you like best about the product?
Great user experience and adaptability of systems and procedures
What do you dislike about the product?
can be quite complex to implement and the licensing is a factor that is sometimes challenging for a big group to use. We still use Excel for shared projects for all to edit and review.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
by aligning our processes and procedures together and make this happen with ease
