Smartsheet: Easy collaborative tool for project management
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has a lot of features that make it easy to organize information for project management in a collaborative way. I appreciate that it can hold detailed data to create overviews with dashboards. The Smartsheet app is a nice new feature that makes it much easier to access multiple tabs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Smartsheet had the ability to have multiple tabs for one Smartsheet, similar to Google Sheets. I would also like to see more templates. This would save time on creating automations. A downside is the amount of time I have had to research how to create reports, use conditional formatting, connect with Outlook, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Smartsheet app has helped make it possible to view multiple tabs without having to go back and forth. It is helpful that it can connect to other apps, including Outlook.

What do you like best about the product?
One can relay from one project to end-to-end work management, where anyone can create the solution. It is better for work management, collaboration, visibility, accessibility, and integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not cheap (cost for licenses). Has more prompts for the user. Less friendly interface. The dashboard can be better or customizable.

Helps in end-to-end work management, collaboration, visibility, accessibility, and integration.

Being able to create sheets and project plans that can be easily shared and collaborated upon

SmartSheet starts where you need it to and scales to where you need to go.
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is easy for non-project managers to pick-up because the interface is very familiar with common office programs. That ability for contributors to pick up quickly and begin contributing makes a big difference in gaining traction in dynamic settings. Once contributors are actively entering information, administrators can leverage the intuitive reporting, calendaring and connectivity functions to get multiple levels of stakeholders what they need.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I would recommend as a user implementing in a dynamic, non-project-manager-stakeholder environment is the ability to easily view others' access permissions in a visual way. Being able to "switch" to another user category easily and test what those users can/cannot do would be helpful. Otherwise, I constantly find more usefulness instead of barriers, which is fantastic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SmartSheet solves the "common source of truth" problem within our department. We layer on accountability, project tracking and calendaring and the uses are expanding, daily, from there. I'm getting new requests for connectivity and functionality on a weekly basis.
Great product even for a small team
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet makes it easy to stay in the loop with reminders, comments, and mentions. Row attachments have been extremely useful for our organization. I love automating processes that would have otherwise required unnecessary staff time, especially since our organization has such a small staff. The forms are so useful and we have never had complaints from our clients about using them (which is a big win for us because we work with a lot of older/less tech-savvy folks!). They integrate very well with our sheets and we can make changes without breaking that connection, which is so helpful. It was also pretty easy for us to switch over to Smartsheet (we had been using Google Sheets for everything) which was important to us since we have a very small team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet has some minor things I would like to see changed - you cannot have text break through to the next cell, limited options for font/color changes, cannot make forms have multiple pages, limited options for form customization (as compared to WP Forms), cannot open word documents within Smartsheet. I would also like to be able to make folders for row attachments and open photos in gallery view even when in a report. Allowing us to view form entries as a whole (as compared to just the information gathered from the form) would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In part of our process we often had things falling through the cracks or left behind because we weren't easily able to track the timeline or set reminders for ourselves. Being able to set reminders within Smartsheet has eliminated that gap and allowed us to stay on top of our current projects.

Smartsheet is a better Excel. The automation capability is a great feature.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sorting is not very capable in Smartsheet. Sorting affects all users of the sheet. I also dislike the sheet selection dialogue where I have to click through folder names to get to the sheet I want.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the things we do with Smartsheet is to track changes to different systems. All users can add entries to the sheet and are notified of changes. The pick lists and cell formatting gives us uniform data from many users. Our change management form became so much more useful when Smartsheet gave us the ability to use pick lists.
A tool that reduces time from manual work, as well as a variety of views that help track due dates.
What do you like best about the product?
The most useful tool in the arsenal is the automations that reduce mundane work, saves time, sends automated reminders and helps track time management, as well as other valuable KPIs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that multiple contact values are highly unsupported both in the app and Control Center. It would be really usefull if multiple values could be displayed via formula in a contact field. Another proposition would be to allow automations to pull data from specific cells that contain those values and assign (and Share) certain items.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet reduced the average time of task management and time keeping (due to all the automations). It's also very scaleable because of Control Center and very flexible when certain features are in place.
Works great for most things
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet tries to combine the best parts of Excel and Google Sheets to make it user-friendly. I like that if I have a question, there are several places to go to find a solution. The customer support is always improving. I use Smartsheet nearly every work day.
What do you dislike about the product?
There have been a number of things I can't do with a Smart Sheet, like making a form that enters info under a parent row, merging cells, editing graphs in reports, and then adjusting where data from forms gets entered (columns vs. rows). It can be frustrating at times when I just need to do a simple task that is possible in Excel and Google Sheets but is not possible at this time in Smartsheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me stay organized with projects and deadlines. I can track the flow of funds for grants easily and collect data from community surveys and forms.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the way we can save documents and messages online items. The automation of messages and reminders is also so helpful. Reports and dashboards help everyone stay on the same page.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I wish Smartsheet could do is link to my server for fast access. When uploading an email from Outlook, it would be nice to include the person the email was addressed to, not just the person it was from. As well as the subject of the email. As it can be a great reference when looking at saved messages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet has helped our admin team track and monitor the status of contracts. Expiration date tracking and so much more. The old process was using a spreadsheet that would be difficult to keep up to date. But with Smartsheet our system is now streamlined.
