What do you like best about the product?
I love how IBM Apptio provides great insight into our total budget variance and the ability to capture our organization's total IT costs comprehensively. It's very user-friendly, making it much easier for me to navigate through complex financial data. The system's easy-to-navigate menus paired with excellent filtering options significantly enhance my experience, allowing me to quickly find the information I need without any hassle. Overall, these features not only streamline the budgeting and costing process but also add efficiency to my day-to-day operations.

I find it challenging to track year-to-year changes in IT Planning when there are changes in vendors or descriptions.

I have been using IBM Apptio for approximately 18 months for budget management and find the ease of use to be one of its greatest assets. The software simplifies the readability of budget data, making it easier to understand for those who may not be as budget-oriented. I particularly value the different views, especially the 'In Development' and 'Production' views, which are incredibly helpful during our beginning-of-the-month validations. Setting up IBM Apptio was straightforward, as it was easy to gain access and learn the basics, which is a significant plus for any software. As a testament to my satisfaction, I would rate the likelihood of recommending IBM Apptio at a solid 9 out of 10, emphasizing my confidence in its utility and effectiveness.
What do you dislike about the product?
The behind-the-scenes operations, such as adjusting filters and creating tables in IBM Apptio, are challenging for me. Despite using the platform for budget management effectively, I find these technical aspects difficult to grasp. As a result, we have to consult external help to manage these tasks efficiently, which indicates a steep learning curve or lack of intuitive design in handling advanced features.

I have been using IBM Apptio for five years, primarily for IT cost management, and I am truly appreciative of the visibility it provides into IT spending. It equips me with insightful data crucial for management conversations, enabling us to make informed decisions. The aspect of cost transparency stands out to me the most, significantly aiding in IT planning by providing tower cost visibility. I also value the billing insight feature, which offers an in-depth understanding of our expenditures, further aiding in efficient financial management within our IT department. The setup process for IBM Apptio was not bad at all, and overall, I am extremely satisfied with the benefits it brings to my work, which is why I would highly recommend IBM Apptio to others, giving it a perfect recommendation score of 10.

I sometimes find IBM Apptio to be slow, particularly when retrieving large amounts of data.

Complex Configurations, but Admin Views Need Streamlining
What do you like best about the product?
The configuration options are quite versatile and can accommodate a wide range of use cases.
What do you dislike about the product?
The various configurations can be quite complex, especially since the admin view alone includes two separate roles pages. It would be helpful if the admin views were consolidated or given clearer names to make communication more efficient. Also the Validation Rules screen rule is written with a double negative making it difficult to explain and understand.

We are looking forward to getting the visibility out of the spend and cost
Highly Customizable but Needs Robust Improvements
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the ability to customize IBM Apptio to suit specific business needs. It offers the flexibility to use out-of-the-box (OOTB) functionality while also allowing customization of those features to fit unique use cases. I find this level of flexibility incredibly beneficial as it ensures the tool adapts well to various operational demands. Additionally, IBM Apptio serves as a one-stop shop for reporting, streamlining the process of accessing and managing reports efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that the Apptio Target process needs significant improvements. While Apptio One is robust and appears to have a lot of effort put into its design, the Target process does not feel as mature or developed. Additionally, I see potential for the product but am not completely satisfied with its current maturity level. Another area for improvement is moving towards a more event-based architecture to align with industry standards. Furthermore, the initial setup of IBM Apptio was difficult for my team.

I use IBM Apptio to map resources to work and finance, benefiting from its customization options to tailor solutions to specific needs while serving as a central hub for reporting.

Apptio would need to solve the resource allocation and capital budget planning across the organization in order to have a better understanding of how we deliver value

The ability to find coast savings and provide cost transparency to technology, finance and the business.

The UI. It's hardly been updated in the 6 years I have been using the interface.
