Fixed by exposing credentials as a newbie

  • October 08, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
Detected fairly quickly (about 5 minutes) after uploading my project containing my credentials to GitHub. After the incident alert is sent to my email, it specifically shows its location, allowing for a quick and effective correction. I had different types of credentials in the same project, I like that I differentiated them and created individual incidents. I find it quite useful to be able to trace the incident until I can have it resolved.
What do you dislike about the product?
It could offer an immediate solution to the incident, at least hiding the visibility of the specific file if it became a potential risk. It could be preconfigured, since GitHub users may be unaware of these types of information security threats.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem is the exposure of credentials, it benefits me since no one outside my project can use this information to attack me, obviously if I give attention and solution to the GitGuardian incident alerts.

What do you like best about the product?
I set it up for my personal repos, it was quick and efficient ! It's gave me every I needed ! Nice resolution workflow and advice to resolve the issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is an external application ( that we can set up in the most common workflows ), so one more applications to use when using many tools for dev. but I saw that you can integrate it with Jira, which can resolve this, but didn't try to set it up yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has found secrets in the history on one a my repo, which was public.

Receive notification of security flaws in legacy projects

  • September 20, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
GitGuardian reviews all repositories available on github, separating them into private and public, when you deprive something that has a security flaw, you receive several alerts about this flaw, the interface is very friendly, the flaw is shown in the code
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a lot of options for those starting out, segmenting them into sections depending on the level of experience, such as "advanced information" would help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Presents security flaws effectively and easily identifies where and what is wrong

GitGuardian helps keep my secrets safe in my open source project

  • September 07, 2023

I love how git guardian detects secrets in my open source projects even if I had removed the secret. It checks old commits to detect exposed secrets

Sometimes I get false-possitives, e.g some public client keys get detected as a secret
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GitGuardian helps keep my applications secure by monintoring and alerting whenever I expose a secret in the source code.

Amazing tool to generate pull request analysis preventing unintentionally sharing secrets

  • September 05, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use GitGuardian on my open-source projects and this is an amazing tool that can prevent me or anybody else from sharing secrets (most of the time, unintentionally). It integrates with the pipeline and the workflow nicely, and adds comments to the pull request if finds any problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't experienced anything negative from this tool yet. Since I use the free tier, it provides me with everything that I expected. I only have good thoughts about this tool!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It prevents me from sharing unintentionally secrets when I push code to my repositories. With this tool, also running in my local machine, I can even prevent to push the secrets to the coding hosting provider.
