Outstanding support
What do you like best about the product?
I've found snowplow analytics after one year trying to work on third part solutions for my in-house analytics application, and I am finally owner of all my data. They helped me implementing best practions in my data layer, my data pipeline and my data visualisation. Their workshop materials were really well developed, uptodate and useful during and after implementation. Their support time (response) was really good, usually in the same day. Snowplow has helped my Mission to democratize data in my company, as we can move to a single source of truth in which we can find most of the answers we have about our business, our users and our product.
What do you dislike about the product?
For startups, the price is fair, but usually not affordable for starting business (specially because it is in US dollars). For a few users in my team, English was a barrier to following the workshops, but I do understand that Portuguese material would not be a priority for your solution (everything was in English).

Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should take a look at their docummentation and as for a demo call with their team. I did have some difficulties getting in touch in the first time, but it did not repeated.
Easy to get up and running
What do you like best about the product?
The Snowplow platform is so powerful. It is allowing us to rethink how we do analytics in our products and it's opening new avenues for us to explore both internally and with our clients.
The ability to send entities with each event that are specific to our organisation and business domain has become a very powerful tool and the quality of the data on the other side of the pipeline when it ends up in Google BigQuery makes it very easy to work with.
Combined with Looker as a BI tool, we're able to very quickly inspect and find insight from our products.

What do you dislike about the product?
It's definitely has a steeper learning curve than some other tools but with the help of the Snowplow team we've ended up with a solid implementation very quickly. The documentation is very tailored to the Open Source community and isn't as useful for those on the Snowplow Insights platform although that seems to be improving all the time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've got so much more granularity in the available data that we're able to be very precise with how our users are using our products across the web. The fact our data isn't sampled and we are get access to the row level data is incredibly useful.
It's already helping to inform the next phase of product development across our development teams.

Full ownership and flexibility of your Data pipeline
What do you like best about the product?
Decide what you want to track when and where, across platforms and devices in a scalable and unified manner. Out of the box it works but when optimizing it to your needs there are almost you will see the true value. Enrich tracking with almost no limitations.
What do you dislike about the product?
To get the full potential out of Snowplow you need to have a clear understanding of what you want to achieve in order to set up the right tracking. And the amount of data you will start collecting with a proper tracking set up will result in that you perhaps need to rethink about storage and data processing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalability, multi-channel, multi-platform, Extensive context tracking. Using support to challenge issues in tracking.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think of you most ideal situation in regards of tracking & collecting data and challenge Snowplow to achieve that goal.
Excellent Analytical Tool for Developers
What do you like best about the product?
The interface and the ease with the tool could be used helped me gain access to the world of visualization and data representation which otherwise is difficult to understand via tools such as SAS or Excel.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing that I dislike about the software is that the initial setup time is high and the support/help system is weak.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm solving problems of data visualization, representation, cleaning, and management from this tool which better gives an idea about in which direction analytical effort should be posted.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When starting with this software one should make sure that the right amount of time is being spent in understanding as to how the interface works because sometimes it can be intimidating that there are so many functionalities that one needs to take care of and this intern reduces the quality of the deliverable that one is trying to produce for a specific business use case. The analytical advantages supported by this software are immense such a data cleaning and efficient representations, which otherwise are not clearly dealt with other statistical packages. I believe that one should spend enough time analyzing the initial setup time and progress because once the setup is done it is hard to make any further changes.

We help companies plan, build, run and analyse large experiments on their properties - Snowplow is a fundamental part of what we do.
Many testing companies limit themselves to tracking experiments in tools like Optimizely and constrict their analysis to what they track inside that tool. With Snowplow Analytics we've expanded our experiment metrics to optimize for highly bespoke things for our clients such as:
- Decreasing delivery distance for an ecommerce site
- Increasing the variety of fields and values interacted with on a financial institution's calculators
- Measuring site speed impacts of experiment variants on actual users
It also enables us to build and run personalisation experiments for clients which we wouldn't be able to easily build in other platforms (like GA):
- "This place is popular with 24 sales in the last day."
- "We noticed you left this product in your cart, return to checkout?"

Recommendations to others considering the product:
You'll need to have analysts familiar with SQL, R and Python to make the most of it.
Consider a good dashboarding tool like Superset to help non-technical stakeholders to make use of the data.
Keep Google Analytics around because agencies and even many internal users will be familiar with GA.
If you encounter errors or issues, you can most likely Google the answer or get a speedy response back from the community forums.

Must have for scaling your product with confidence
What do you like best about the product?
Complete control over the data/pipeline and the ability to model the data in any way you see fit. The support team is fantastic, responsive, and knowledgeable.
What do you dislike about the product?
No true drawbacks. Moving from Segment or Mixpanel you might have to adjust to the structure in which event data is transmitted, but that's to be expected when transitioning to almost any analytics platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Full funnel optimization, looking for user trends based on marketing/campaign/ad source, A/B test result validation. Also enhances the ability to help resolve customer support requests. Snowplow data is used in almost every product decision.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to have a plan/convention when implementing any of the trackers. This will make your life much easier when you start to analyze the data in Redshift with your BI tool.
