Consistently confusing and unreliable

  • July 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Some great visualisation tools and has strong customisation for getting reports pixel-perfect.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've found the experience of administering and managing a Tableau site to be consistently confusing and opaque. Permissions are not intuitive, it is not clear how data sources should be configured, and the organisation and tagging of content has so much wasted potential.

On top of this, I experience vague error messages almost every day that force to me to recreate reports and data sources from scratch, creating hours of wasted manual work.

There are also still clear limitations to what is possible through the Tableau Online platform: one is left feeling that the web authoring platform was clearly tacked on, and it is not clear when either should used.

For a smaller business or startup the above failings would be acceptable, but I expect a lot more from on of the largest (and most sucessful) technology companies in the world.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Produce reporting and dashboards for all parts of our business.

What do you dislike about the product?
It is expensive and has some data preparation limitation.

We provide KPI to universities about various facilities such as, admissions, teacher-student statistics, etc.

The best less complex data visualisation tool with drag and drop functionality

  • July 11, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Definitely, I literally liked their drag and drop functionality to create report charts and visualisation. And yeah, connect various data sources for visualisation and making reports
What do you dislike about the product?
I could say versioning. We have literally faced this problem. When we publish reports to the server, we literally can't get the older version of it. And it create so inconvenience. And in this modern era, they could provide auto refreh functionality for reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We generally use it for making reports so our support engineers would get lead on the improvements. So we used to convert more technical data into understandable format using reports. I could say we have achieved more than 60% improvements than earlier quality of our products due visualisation techniques

Offers extremely powerful tools for Data vis

  • June 27, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau has some of the best tools for data visualization. Analytics are auto computed based on formulas. The learning curve was present, but it was smoother after learning the usage of software. I once used it for data with 3M records and it just blitzed through it
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes data manipulation and data cleansing is not straightforward and this causes issues where I feel like this should be easier than this.
Also, sharing specific views with stakeholders was diffucult and I would like this process to be more easier
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau was mainly used for solving accounting problems at the company I work. They were basically spending way too much money and the stakeholders needed a better way to track costs, especially cloud services spending

  • June 26, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
User friendly, specially the drag and drop feature, variety of visualizations that we can do, Tableau connecting to various data sources, ability to customize, helps in sharing and collaborating with team members, great integration with different data sets
What do you dislike about the product?
a bit costly, might have better complex visualizations, limitations on large data set and analysis, not ideal for in-depth analysis
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
While creating data sets, helps in the data-driven decision-making process and helps by visually summarizing large data sets. It is a means of clear communications.

Tableau has so many great data visualization and analytics capabilities. I like the most the graphics in tableau, they are very professional and also I like the options it gives for analytics. It's very convenient and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
First time users might find it quite confusion because of its interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly gaining insights from data. Because this helps businesses in so many ways. In terms of cutting down expenses.

Tableau is a mature business intelligence tool, but lags in developer experience

  • June 25, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Building visualizations is straightforward once you get past the initial learning curve. There are flexible deployment options to fit the needs of your organization (on-prem, cloud, or hybrid). There are several connectors available to connect to data sources.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau Desktop is clunky and lacks the snappy user experience one would expect from modern SaaS apps. Signing in can often be a pain. Documentation can often be sparse. Overall, there are a lot of friction points in the development experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau enables business intelligence and analytics for the organization by serving dashboards and data sources to end users. End users are able to interactively and intuitively query dashboards without needing to be technical in SQL or any other programming languages.
