Easy, clear, and visually pleasing sales data
What do you like best about the product?
I love the layout, having used it at two employers. It just gets better. Clean, easy to navigate and never seems cluttered or “busy”.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly don’t dislike much about Salesforce, and if I had to be picky, I would say that I wish some of the “groups” were more useful, as my employers haven’t used them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My department relies heavily on Salesforce Sales Analytics to track our team and departmental quotas. Having this easy to interpret service to track everything makes coaching our team and having a day to day look at sales numbers has helped our organization excel at our goals.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Out of all of the products out there, this is the best one. Hands down.
salesforce is a good tool to visualize our sales KPI and key metrics
What do you like best about the product?
We can build customized web dashboards based upon the strategic KPI's each month. So it's very tailor-made + numbers are always up-to-date. It refreshes continuously. Mobile app is also super user friendly + used by the whole salesteam while on the road.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are very dependent on the 'Salesforce Admin' within our company, as sales people are not familiar with coding and setting formulas. Backend data not directly available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sales KPI's
Sales performance
Target setting and optimization
Gap closing opportunities
Overal sales visibility has grown across the company + better reporting tools.

High-level data visualizations for the amateur
What do you like best about the product?
Click and drag interface makes it easy to obtain complex visualizations even for an amateur programmer. Interactivity with visualizations is a big plus. Accessibility of online video tutorials served as a good starting place to learn -- I haven't had/needed any further formal training.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price makes it prohibitive to share with some users who are not developers. Tableau Reader is a weak substitute (possibly by design). Tableau is a fair skill to have right now if you don't plan to deepen your data science/analytic skills further in your career, but may be surpassed by other coding languages in the future (R, Python) by data science practitioners.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data visualization problems, auto-refreshed dashboards and summaries
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good tool to learn if you are somewhat peripheral to data science work -- data scientists or predictive modelers are likelier to code in scripting languages such as R and Python to produce visualizations.
Good for analytics
What do you like best about the product?
Visualization, charts, search criteria, speed, algorithm updates
What do you dislike about the product?
Slow to respond sometimes, limited export options
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analytics
Visualize data like never before
What do you like best about the product?
The extensive and free resources available on the official Tableau website lets anyone quickly understand the features and build visualizations. Data from various sources like Excel, PDF, text file etc cane be easily connected and further, cleaned (with an in-build feature named Tableau prep). The recommended type of visualization from the wide gamut of options helps develop better results. The new dashboard and new story features where-in various worksheets can be combined to tell a story makes it stand out from the other similar software available in market. Not only visualizations, but also various complex analytics pertaining to data can be easily enabled through the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
For large data sizes, the software gets stuck and sometimes goes to the extent of crashing. Also, Tableau prep tool is not very effective for cleaning purpose.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilized Tableau to develop visualizations such as heat maps, histograms, line graphs, pie charts etc. and further developed worksheets, dashboards and stories to present business case as part of my Master's coursework.Apart from visualizations, it helped me perform various complex analysis and also enabled sensitivity analysis through its features like parameter control and filtering.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If the data makes no sense at all, it is good to evaluate other similar tools which are providing various possible hypothesis once the data is loaded.
A perfect BI tool for small to mid level data reporting initiative
What do you like best about the product?
Quick learning curve,
Good connectivity with an array of data sources,
Lots of internet forum support,
Good After-sales service by the company,
Comparatively cheaper than other services like Power BI and SAP Lumira,
Good online resources available for learning the tool.

What do you dislike about the product?
Not very versatile,
The scale up cost can go up pretty quickly,
Has performance issues with big data sets,
Not a good Stand-alone tool. Need a data integration tool like alteryx or pentaho in the back end.

I used it to customer re-targeting for Xfinitiy Mobile, a comcast company.
Since we get data from Salesforce, A big data lake and flat files. The reporting is seamless and the turnaround is quick!
Tableau offers a variety of features to build interactive maps, connects to an array of online APIs(like twitter) to pull data. Reporting is good both in live connections as well as data extracts which can be done at a desired cadence.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Talk to a rep and ask for a trial version. It is a great tool, but its not for everyone.
Brilliant tool!
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of tool and great visualising capability are the two key aspects of tableau that make it a brilliant tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s not much that I dislike about tableau.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visualizations, trend analysis, reporting
Good product
What do you like best about the product?
If your company is heavily invested in Salesforce and it's your go-to system record and you aren't using Wave - you need to seriously consider it. It has a learning curve, but not unlike any other BI tool. It has dashboards that come out of the box that can be useful for some but otherwise is extremely customizable. They are continually investing on the platform and providing improvements, still some to be made.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you aren't used to BI tools and don't have an expert in house, the terminology can be difficult to understand at first (ie: building lenses - or datasets) and it may take some time to grasp. It can also be expensive, but in our case it has more than provided value for our team to help improve decision making abilities. My one biggest fault with SFDC is that any kind of real time support service is an add-on, so you'll need to be patient if you require help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Amazing visual experience for your data. Users find it so much easier to use and view data as well, which allow them to drive their performance in the right directions. The visualization of data not just from salesforce but also from outside systems is a huge plus as well, as now we can see all of our data in one place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
More functionalities needs to be added. We all know it is improving but when compared to other BI tools like Tableau, some features are lagged.
A very powerful tool
What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility for a wide range of reporting needs. Before Tableau we were primarily using Excel for our quarterly metrics, but Tableau is a much more efficient solution since it saves dashboads layouts
What do you dislike about the product?
It's tricky to track trending data (i.e. annualizing turnover) without a pretty advanced skillset/experience with the product (especially trying to use level of detail expressions).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Tableau for our quarterly and annual HR metrics. We've also found it to be a helpful internal tool to monitor pay equity and other metrics.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the free trainings and determine ahead of time if it's options are right for your metrics/how much data manipulation you will need to do to make your data Tableau-friendly.
Nice visualizations
What do you like best about the product?
Great tools but can be tricky at the beginning
What do you dislike about the product?
Connections to data do not automatically refresh
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating dashboards to visualize data
