Excellent solution for data exploration and rapid prototyping
What do you like best about the product?
Great for ingesting, manipulating, and visualizing large datasets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau's learning resources are outstanding in many ways, but documentation is lacking for some of the more niche built-in functions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Leveraging big data to inform key business decisions. Before dedicating dev resources to building out new features, we are able to test their value to customers by prototyping certain views/dashboards in Tableau.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Worth the cost if you understand what it's for (data exploration and visualization) and what it isn't (standalone platform for predictive modeling and analytics).

It is very user friendly and easy to understand given it has good data to work with.

Refresh times are incredibly slow and it takes a while to get the hang of.

There's so many different types of data that you can customize Tableau to produce. It's got tons of different views and can break things down to optimal detail.
What do you dislike about the product?
Importing and exporting data isn't necessarily the easiet. The interface itself also isn't OVERLY user friendly with how to filter data down sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Tableau to manage and audit all of our key performance indicators. This allows us the opportunity to have insight on a very detailed level which ultimately helps us better develop action plans.
Useful, but with a learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to create visualizations for business purposes using this technology--once you have learned to use it properly. I also really like how much support there is for this product, both from Tableau and the Tableau community.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not a super intuitive product. I would definitely recommend taking a class to begin your implementation of this product. Both for the administrator and actual user/creator.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Tableau Desktop to create interactive dashboards for clients. We are still in the learning process of how to best design these dashboards so they can be used successfully. Once we have a bit more experience I believe these dashboards will be very popular products.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Recommend but with the caution that implementation will take work; however, the work will be worth it if you regularly make visualizations with large datasets.

This tool has been a blessing as it solved a lot of problems when it comes to collating the data from different departments and giving a summarized insightful view to the top management This is one of the best dashboards till date with plethora of options

IT Support is required frequently and the support takes times.

You need to be an expert to create reports in smooth running way else it takes time to run heavy reports

All Business Metrics can be shown and you can connect to any relevant DB, SQL, GA, Spreadsheets etc

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about salesforce analytics is that we are a pretty serious salesforce shop. Salesforce analytics adds a deeper insight into our sales data against the dashboard that comes standard with salesforce

I really do not dislike anything about it but I do think it's a little overkill. We have a BI tool in place as well and all that seems like it's a little much.

We are solving business problems around sales analytics at a granular level
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This may be overkill, price it out and see if you can bundle up for a discount. But regular salesforce with a lightweight BI tool does just about the same thing.

What do you like best about the product?
The report gets updated automatically with the recent feeds and we don't need to perform this manually.
It is a low cost software.
Also has good customer service.

Uploading CSV file or Excel file is easy, but connecting to a database is quite a task.
Workbook folder should be made available to share on the web
Upgrading the new version is quite hard, you will first have to uninstall the old and reinstall the new version of it.
Reporting features can be improved.
Tableau support team should be made available for the customers always, it's quite hard to reach them as you don't find their contact numbers easily.

Tableau is a trending tool that is used across many organization. It helps us perform Data Visualization and has several fascinating dashboard options. Tableau desktop is a free software which makes many organizations adapt Tableau. I used Tableau in my department to merge data of students enrolled across all department. I also with my team conducted trend analysis and generated the reports using Tableau.

Tableau Desktop is a perfect tool for visualization. Tableau is more user friendly with its easy UI. The reports can be saved in your computer. You can certainly consider this product for your organization.
