Our customers were seeking an affordable monitoring solution. We noticed that traditional options like VMware's Operations Manager are quite expensive, so we found a more budget-friendly alternative. Veeam ONE has proven to be a reliable tool not just for backups but also for general hypervisor management.

Affordable and reliable general hypervisor management with significant lack of customer support
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is the capacity planning aspect of the solution.
What needs improvement?
There are not enough charts and diagrams available. Other solutions, such as VMware's vRealize, offer a more extensive range of charts and diagrams for monitoring the environment. Enhancing the user experience, particularly in terms of providing more comprehensive chart and diagram options, would be beneficial.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with it for more than ten years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It offers good stability capabilities. I would rate it eight out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
I am highly dissatisfied with their customer support approach. When we face a certain issue, they simply provide a website link and expect us to resolve the problem on our own. If the issue persists, we need to revert to them for further assistance. This process can be time-consuming when dealing with problems. This differs significantly from our experiences with other vendors, like Nutanix. For instance, when we open a support case with Nutanix, they not only provide a dedicated web portal but also offer direct assistance tailored to our company's specific situation. This approach is notably more effective. I would rate it five out of ten.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I learned about Veeam ONE before exploring other solutions, and I have found it to be a highly cost-effective option when compared to alternative solutions.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was straightforward. I would rate it nine out of ten.
What about the implementation team?
The deployment process took approximately one week because, following the initial setup, we held several technical meetings to fine-tune the configuration to align with the specific requirements of the customer's use case.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's an extremely cost-effective solution. I would rate it three out of ten.
What other advice do I have?
It is an excellent solution, incredibly user-friendly and manageable. I would highly recommend it based on its robust features and ease of use. The main issue lies in the quality of customer support. I would rate it seven out of ten.
Veeam Backup Review
Veeam Rescuer
The solution has an easy interface to work with but needs to improve support
What needs improvement?
Every backup solution has a different approach to deployment. Veeam is not in SaaS right now. It is not cloud-based. They are only on an exchange license basis. They should plan to have a cloud-based backup. Veeam has partnered with Wasabi for a backup cloud, but they should try to get their backup solution.
Moreover, the support should be faster.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have worked with Veeam for ten months since I joined my current organization.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the solution's stability a seven out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Veeam can be scalable if you have a simple interface. We have 20 to 26 users.
How are customer service and support?
I have to call Veeam directly for support since we are working with them. It would take time if I raised a support ticket.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not easy. The package must be downloaded, and we can only install it. You have to check if Veeam is compatible with your OS. If it's not, you must go through many changes before doing it.
When deploying Veeam, you have to download the ISO package for it. It's approximately 10 GB. You have to then download the license on the portal itself and check whether it is valid. After that, you have to deploy the ISO package after mounting it to the server, in which we have to create a backup agent server. Veeam's installation isn't short; a prerequisite is that it is updated to the latest version of the OS. Only if everything is updated is the installation able to proceed. Then, you have to add the storage bucket. You can add a cloud backup using the AWS E3 bucket. And if you have a paid library or any SAN in your environment, you can add SAN to the solution.
What about the implementation team?
I have distributors I am directly in contact with. They are a partner in every scenario we ask for.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Veeam has a ten-license package gives you two physical and two virtual servers you can use on any endpoint. You have to pay for the solution. It's just for server backups, so a price would be there.
The solution is not priced on its storage. If you have 20 terabytes of storage, you can add it to the solution.
What other advice do I have?
If you are looking for a physical backup and have deployed on physical servers, you should choose Veeam. It has an interface that's easy to use. I rate Veeam Data Platform a seven out of ten.
We only have the enterprise backup, not the endpoint backup. It's an enterprise solution, and we have to try it out.
Scalable product with a good user interface
What is our primary use case?
We use the platform to take backups of virtual machines and Office 365 mailboxes.
What is most valuable?
The product's user interface is easy for creating and restoring Windows and File Explorer backups. It provides a much better user experience compared to other vendors. It works faster as well.
What needs improvement?
Veeam's support services need improvement. Whenever we create a ticket regarding production issues with high severity, their team takes a longer time to respond. It could be better.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using Veeam Data Platform since 2022.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the product's stability an eight out of ten. We encountered a few downtime issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rate the product's scalability a ten out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support team can resolve all technical queries. However, it could be improved in terms of response time.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is easy because the server can be connected to the internet during installation. It downloads all the required features and configures all functionalities automatically. It takes a lot of overhead from the admins and engineers working on the process.
The implementation process takes around two days in our infrastructure as we only have a few workloads and know all the details about the policies to be configured. It requires three engineers, including system and network engineers, to execute the process.
What other advice do I have?
I recommend Veeam Data Platform to others and rate it a nine out of ten.

I would rate the stability nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
How are customer service and support?
The support is good.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
How was the initial setup?
It required 2-3 people to deploy. It is deployed in a hybrid manner. It took almost 2-3 hours for the process to complete.
The deployment procedure begins by accessing the Veeam Backup website to download the necessary software. Subsequently, the software is managed on the server where installation is intended. Before proceeding with installation, it's recommended to have a backup, ensuring functionality on the server. The installation process itself is distinct, not combined with the backup sector. Each step is downloadable, contributing to the installation information. The final step involves creating a backup job. Users can choose the backup type they prefer, whether it's full, implemented, or differential. Following this, the backup can be saved on desired media, such as servers.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is not expensive and I would rate it five out of ten.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We considered other vendors but discovered that the Veeam Backup has establishment as a direct node-to-node connection and synchronization with other systems.
What other advice do I have?
I can recommend that it serves as a good solution. The code constitutes a comprehensive answer. It effectively backs up all workloads. This applies to various scenarios – from email to physical and virtual machines, services, SAP DNS, and Azure DNS – allowing for comprehensive backup solutions. It extends to cloud-based backups as well. Essentially, it covers the entirety of our workload, whether on our infrastructure or network.
I would rate it an eight out of ten.
An easy-to-deploy product with simple configurations that can be used as a repository for storing data
What is our primary use case?
We have used the solution for combining cloud and on-premise storage, like a hybrid repository for storing our data and offloading. We have also created backups for Exchange and SQL. We also use the solution for endpoint protection like laptops and bare metal restore.
What is most valuable?
The product has introduced cloud storage, which can be used directly for backing up the data. We need not have an on-premise storage location. It makes everything easy. The product’s configuration and settings are very easy.
What needs improvement?
The endpoint protection console is not centralized. It needs to be improved. The product must improve its reporting features so that it can be used for audit purposes.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for at least eight years.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward. If everything is in place, deploying the solution takes one to two hours.
