What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Veeam Data Platform is to take backups for the servers we have, whether they are physical or virtual servers, including Windows and Linux.
A specific example of how I use Veeam Data Platform for backup in my environment is that we have integrated this solution into our VMware platform. We have connected our servers into Veeam Data Platform and created jobs for each server to back it up.
What is most valuable?
The best features of Veeam Data Platform include offering backup for specific disks.
The backup for specific disks feature has helped me by allowing us to take backups specifically for data we need, rather than for the whole server as a single disk, such as just backing up the root disk.
One of the helpful features is that we can monitor the backup process, and it is easy to follow and monitor.
Veeam Data Platform has positively impacted our organization because we can take backups for all the servers we have in one platform in a specific way for all processes across all servers, making it a centralized backup platform.
What needs improvement?
The restore process is somewhat complicated for Veeam Data Platform.
For enhancement, I wish to see restoring the backup become easier or more user-friendly, similar to the backup process.

I have been using Veeam Data Platform for one year.

Veeam Data Platform is stable and performs very well in my experience.

I did not use any platform other than Veeam Data Platform, as I previously used the standard process with rsync for backups.

For setup, we have integrated Veeam Data Platform into VMware, and we have created an administration user linked with Veeam Data Platform into VMware to be able to create new servers in the restore process.
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Veeam Data Platform was fine, good, and easy to follow and set up.

I have seen a return on investment as it saves time and money by preventing us from being in a disaster situation.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like how reliable and comprehensive Veeam Data Platform is when it comes to backup and recovery. The platform gives me confidence that my data is protected, whether it’s on-prem, virtualized, or in the cloud. The backup and restore processes are fast, granular, and dependable, which is critical in a production environment. I also appreciate the wide range of features, especially instant recovery, replication, and monitoring, all available from a single platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that the initial setup and licensing model can be a bit complex, especially for new users or smaller environments. Some advanced features require time and experience to fully understand and configure correctly. Additionally, the platform can be resource-intensive, so it needs proper planning to ensure optimal performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veeam Data Platform solves the challenge of ensuring data availability, business continuity, and rapid recovery in case of system failure, data loss, or cyber incidents like ransomware. It benefits me by minimizing downtime, simplifying backup management, and providing reliable recovery options that support operational resilience. This allows me to focus more on security and infrastructure improvement, knowing that critical data is well protected.

What do you like best about the product?
I like its easy setup, reliable backups, fast recovery times, and strong ransomware protection with clear, user-friendly monitoring. The guided installation, clear documentation, and good defaults helped our team get started quickly. It's reliable, secure, and performs well, which is why I switched from another backup solution to Veeam Data Platform.

The reverse incremental backup solution helps a lot in saving time and the data transfer amounts by creating an initial backup and then backing up the changes.

Install base is too big and very limited capabilities compared to other products.

Reliability and ease of access are the best aspects of Veeam Data Platform.

The real question is: How quickly can you get the backup up and running? Veeam clearly beats its competitors here.
