Great Backup software

  • February 13, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Most importantly, when the backup works, you know the restore will work. That can be a restore of an entire VM or down to a file or folder. I have done both and every time I had to do a restore I know it will work. That is what Backups are meant for, to be restored.
What do you dislike about the product?
The upgrade process has been awful the last two times I migrated to the newwest version of Veeam. When I do my next upgrade, I am hoping this time it will work without me having to pen a ticket with Tech Support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When a disater happens, if you have a backup file. knowing that it will work, is worth the price of paying for Veeam.

If you don't use it, you should.

What do you like best about the product?
I can confidently know my RTO can be met using instant recovery features. The flexibility of platforms, authentication methods, & security-minded approach to backup are really unparralleled. I've used many back up platforms over 25 years of my career. Veeam is the only one I trust. The ease of use an intuitive nature of the GUI are all best in class in my opinion. Veeam is the 800 lb gorilla to beat in the industry. I pull backups almost constantly and my Veeam server is the hardest working server on my network.
Implementation is easy, pushing and updating clients is easy. The Linux client actually works very well compared to others.
I also use Veeam to back up my cloud environments, the ease of integration with cloud platforms is just as easy as everything else you can do in Veeam.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have really don't have any problems. If I do their customer support has gotten me fixed quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In IT we are always pressed for time. The ability to recover files, volumes, or even whole servers can take literally minutes instead of hours to recover. Veeam will also allow us to implement a future top of class DR warm environment.

Veeam has been a very important partner in our backup and DR strategies.

What do you like best about the product?
Veeam is very easy to use and intuitive. I love that is easily integrates with our storage platforms snapshots for extremely quick and easy restores. Support has been great the few times we have had to use them over the years. The software is easy to setup and update when there are new versions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that when I install the Backup client that it then adds all of the plugins for technologies that we don't use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Veeam for backups and DR. It is a very easy to use product. We are able to offload most of the day to day administrator of it to our level 1 support guys without any issues.

What do you like best about the product?
It's approach to backing up without having to have an agent running in the OS. It's ease of use.

In the past few years, their support has degraded. They used to really dig in and work to resolve issues. Now, they just send you an article, where the problem sounds similar.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It backs up or critical data and workloads. And, keeping our backups offsite

New to Veeam Data Cloud - Use Veeam's Onboarding Team

  • February 06, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Veeam Data Cloud was extremely simple to set up and use. However, I highly recommend taking the time to meet with the onboarding support team. Their guidance can be invaluable in ensuring you get the most out of the platform.

One key takeaway from our onboarding experience was the difference between fixed and dynamic licensing. We initially started with fixed licensing but quickly realized that dynamic licensing provided significantly more flexibility. With a quick email, our onboarding specialist switched us to dynamic licensing, which offers several advantages:

It allows you to exceed your allocated licenses temporarily and true up later.
It is the only way to ensure new users are automatically backed up.
With the fixed licensing model, new users must be added manually, which can become cumbersome as your organization grows.

So far, our test restores have worked well, reinforcing our confidence in the platform’s reliability.

We migrated to Veeam from another cloud backup provider, primarily due to pricing and familiarity. Veeam’s pricing is more competitive, and since we already use Veeam Backup & Replication, transitioning was seamless. Given our positive experience with Veeam’s support in the past, we expect the same high level of service with Veeam Data Cloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
One minor drawback is that the interface can sometimes feel a bit slow, particularly when accessing restores. This is understandable given the sheer volume of data being processed—searching through 250 mailboxes for an item will naturally take some time. If this were a local install with local storage, I’d expect similar delays when working with large datasets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a reliable solution to back up our Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint. These services are critical to our business operations, and under Microsoft’s shared responsibility model, it’s up to us to ensure our data is protected.
