The best whiteboarding software out there

  • December 12, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro is just like having a huge whiteboard. The infinity of the boards means that you never really run out of space. This goes for width and height but also levels of zoom. You can have a large diagram with smaller diagrams embedded in the same board with as much detail as the largest one. It's like viewing a map.
All the things that can be created and combined mean you can use the best tool for the job during planning, designing, ideation.
The nodes are well built and relatively easy to use whether on PC or mobile.
At my work we use it for ideation, floww diagramming, mind mapping, retrospectives, planning, displaying results of investigations, etc.
Collaboration is awesome, both seeing colleagues and being able to follow them as they run meetings. Comments can be made on anything and replied to easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can sometimes me a little confusing. Sometimes it can be hard to find your way around. When people leave comments and you click on those comments, it doesn't take you to the places the comments were made without finding a specific and somewhat hidden button to do it.
Sometimes working with a complex set of nodes can be difficult too with nodes where selecting one with select a different node you don't mean to.
There is no real 'Dark Mode', which is a little annoying if you prefer that like i do. You can change the backround colour, but this does not affect the foreground nodes and therefore doesn't work well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a decent digital whiteboard that is non restrictive and good for in person and remote teams.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very useful for tracking our work, and it will also help us collaborate with colleagues and make necessary changes very easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
If we export the diagram, the quality will be lower than in other tools, but otherwise, all the features will be good, no doubt in it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is very useful in terms of preparing diagram and helps us to collaborate on whiteboard even though employees are in remote work. All the inbuild templates are amazing and this helps us to finish the work faster.

A great site for brainstorming!!

  • December 12, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I absolutely love using this website for brainstorming and organizing my thoughts! The user interface is incredibly intuitive and makes it so easy to visualize ideas. The sticky notes feature is a game-changer—it’s simple to create, move, and group notes as my thoughts evolve. I also appreciate how fluid the design feels, making the process of clearing my mind and brainstorming truly enjoyable. It’s like having a digital whiteboard at my fingertips! Whether I’m planning projects or just jotting down random ideas, this website has become an essential tool for staying organized and creative. Highly recommended!
What do you dislike about the product?
While I really enjoy using this website for brainstorming and organizing my thoughts, I’ve noticed a bit of an issue with controlling the sticky notes. Sometimes, moving or grouping them doesn’t work as smoothly as I’d like, which can be frustrating when I’m in the middle of organizing a lot of ideas. It’s a minor inconvenience, but it does interrupt the otherwise seamless experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to use sticky notes and group them together has completely solved the challenge of keeping my brainstorming sessions structured. It’s perfect for visualizing concepts and sorting through even the most scattered ideas. The design is user-friendly and makes the process feel effortless.

Can feel the difference here

What do you like best about the product?
I'm a Ux designer, and there are lot of practices we do in terms of research, benchmarking, documentations etc. I always felt that i'm more into figma and nothing can replace it, but the day I started doing the Research, benchmarking and analysis on MIRO, it changes the picture differently. I had an amazing ease and found out that there are so many feature which are so useful. The frequency of using MIRO suddenly increased. And i love it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I somethimes found the zoom in zoom out functionality little different and not ease of implementation. Not sure if i'm doing something wrong or whats the reason. But other than that i don't have any feedback for improvement. Keep doing the good work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my design initial thoughts as a UX designer and researcher. There are bundle of tasks I do when i start a new design problem, from doing becnhmarking, mind mapping, data seggregation, data analysis etc

Great tool for collaboration

What do you like best about the product?
Miro is very easy to navigate through and provides a set of interesting interactive tools that enable facilitating workshops, journey maps, brainstorming sessions
What do you dislike about the product?
Miro takes ages to load. Especially if you have several tabs open.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a common place for collaboration is priceless when we are developing new user experiences as well as ideating new products. Also it is easy to integrate with other tools (like JIRA) so that we can track work from development to design to ideation.

Our go-to white-boarding tool

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of collaboration and robust tool set
What do you dislike about the product?
File size limits for imported documents and images
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One problem that Miro solves is that different disciplines have their default apps and toolsets that are not typically share across the areas of expertise. Teams that typically use decks and designers who use Figma and Adobe suite all find common ground with Miro and are equally adept at using it.

So far, easy to use and full of possibilities

What do you like best about the product?
We transitioned to Miro when Invision shut down Freehand, so that tool is my main source of comparision. We started out primarily using it for inifite whiteboard concept maps, but as we've uncovered Miro's deeper capabilities we are re-envisioning ways to use the tool. Overall:

-Miro has a smooth user-experience, which means my team can move quickly through work without getting bogged down in the interface.
-Miro has a huge variety of customization options - text color, shape sizes and colors, bold/italics/etc, etc. This is useful for our needs. Some other tools we experimented with didn't have this level of customization.
-The amount of Tools you can add to the board is vast - I still haven't dug through all of them. They have the usual amount of software developer-friendly tools, but also a lot of useful project and product management tools which I appreciate. So many of the SAAS tools my company uses are focused on the software use-cases and we have to reverse-engineer them for our needs. I don't find that to be the case with Miro.
What do you dislike about the product?
My main issue with Miro is solely related to the difficult process of transferring our Invision assets into Miro's structure. Since that issue is niche, I won't go into detail here.

Like many tools that can do everything, there can be a steep learning curve to mastering a tool like Miro. There are copious Help article, but I still find myself needing more information. This is to be expected. I believe that I can unlock a lot more of Miro's capabilities for my team specifically, but this will take dedicated time on my end.

I also haven't tested Miro's integrations capabilities yet, which is where issues can arise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to organize vast amounts of information for analysis, so inifite whiteboards in general are our preferred tool. Compared to our last whiteboard tool (Invision), Miro is speeding up this process and giving our team more customization options in the flow of work.

Miro helps put our brain dumps into real life

What do you like best about the product?
-There are so many different templates
-It's collaborative
-It's user-friendly
What do you dislike about the product?
-I wish there were more options for ideation board templates
-Very specific, but I wish you could add more colors to dot voting
-Whenever I share a Miroboard link on Slack it asks if I want to integrate it, but for our purposes we don't really need it. Not sure how a slack integration would be useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Some things we don't want written in "black ink" just yet so Miro is really helpful for creating a rough draft of strategy without having to formalize it elsewhere.
It's also helping us to collaboratively discuss projects/ideas. Our biggest use is ideation.
