Miro is an excellent online team collaboration tool!

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of Miro is the interactive whiteboard. My software team uses this board to diagram ideas, mock UI, and discuss high-level topics. The whiteboard has many tools that let you edit your UI designs. There are also many templates to choose from if you don't want a blank whiteboard. Miro is also great at collaboration and sharing. Documents can be locked and shared with team members. Miro allows users to give either Read Only access or Edit/Read access. It does not require an app to run. All users need to have access to Miro is a web browser. The web browser Miro app works great, in my opinion. Exporting your final product is also available and gives a high-quality PDF.
What do you dislike about the product?
The panning and zooming on the whiteboard can sometimes be finicky. At first glance, the UI can be a bit overwhelming. It would be nice to have the ability to create your own templates. When multiple people are viewing the same board, I have noticed a small bit of lag. Slack integration would be very helpful instead of emailing new comments or updates to users. While the commenting feature works, it is not as easy as commenting on a Google Document. Miro also lacks in the process flow side as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Miro, I can solve the problem of engaging with my teammates during meetings. During meetings, we can all contribute to the board and see in real-time comments or suggestions. One benefit I have realized is remote brainstorming. I am able to edit a board and then have a teammate make edits that I can quickly see. Miro also helps our team see the big picture.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend using Miro if you have a small team and are looking for more engagement and creating various boards for various products.

What do you like best about the product?
- It works fast
- Miro has a myriad of templates for us to pick for any use case.
- The extensions like GIFs, icons, JIRA and others can be useful.
- Video call feature is really interesting.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Due to its free nature, it's a bit hard to use it for Kanban-style task tracking purposes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm creating mindmaps, user flows, information architectures and diagrams for how things function.

Best design research tool I've used so far

  • August 24, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is pretty straightforward, and it is very easy to share boards with clients' teams without having them create accounts.
I have never experienced any slowdown, especially when drag-n-dropping large pictures on mood boards with 5+ people working simultaneously, which is one of the main reasons I moved to Miro.

Connecting objects with arrows is straightforward and accurate, making it very quick to create flow diagrams.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would appreciate the possibility of using additional fonts from Google Fonts or Adobe Fonts, to have perfectly branded boards for clients' workshops.

It'd also be great to have finer control on locking objects, to allow, for example, drag-and-drop of templates with some elements unlocked by default (e.g. user personas cards where only editable fields are locked)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm mostly organizing user research workshops (which went fully online after covid hit).
From a few weeks, I'm also experimenting with creating diagrams we would typically design using specialized software, benefiting from the easiness of sharing and collaboration that Miro offers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a reliable design collaboration tool, that makes sharing boards effortless, look no further than Miro (I already tested almost all other products around!)

Miro has transformed our team meetings

  • August 24, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Miro is the infinite workspace and boards. These are perfect for creative collaboration and ideation. Miro has brought my team together, who work remotely across multiple time zones, and transformed how we share ideas in meetings and come to decisions. Miro has loads of incredible features and I love the library of templates which are great if you are looking for inspiration.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't dislike anything but I do wish it was possible to work on boards offline!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It can be challenging to run creative meetings remotely, but not with Miro. The collaborative workspace is engaging for remote teams, and additional features, such as voting and timers, ensure productivity.

Great collaboration and whiteboarding tool

  • August 23, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro has been great for our teams to collaborate while being remote and distributed. There are various ways to whiteboard and brainstorm, and it's been the closest way for us to mimic what we used to do in person! I like the flowcharts to easily and quickly map out processes/flows and the mind map to jot down ideas.
What do you dislike about the product?
Minor - but it would be nice to have additional creative flexibility in the formatting of various boards
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are first and foremost solving virtual collaboration via Miro - having teams across many different time zones and locations has been a bit hectic and grown stale with just virtual conferencing. Adding Miro into our collaboration toolbox at work has been a helpful way for us to engage teammates creatively that we haven't been able to since we have become remote.

Creative Collaboration and Teaching environment

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Brings the immediate & direct hands on experience from whiteboard and Metaplan.
Adds the freedom of infinite wall papers and zooming in and out to change perspective ad hoc
Well prepared elements and functions that make it easy to create clean and appealing results while staying in the creative flow
A huge template library to start new things very efficient and to search for interesting & useful formats. Extra Bonus - the method, the template is used for - is even explained
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm a mindmap-junky. As such, I'm missing some of the flexibility and features of for instance X-Mind.

I'll come back and add, as soon as I've found more downside ;-)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm helping startups to develop their vision and get themselves organised.

I'm developing my own organisation and build teaching and training formats in Miro.

I'm using Miro together with the participants within those trainings.

What do you like best about the product?
It´s all about the templates. A time saver!
What do you dislike about the product?
It´s a shame it doesn´t have a version in spanish ... yet! It would aloud me to invite a broader audience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brainstorming sessions are quicker to analyze, and mind-maps are easy to modify; it really goes a long way to help me order the ideas of more than 20 collaborators.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Quite useful if you have a creative team who likes to sketch multiples ideas!

Miro Respective View

  • August 20, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When I joined the organization where I work, I heard that Miro was licensed and used; I was unfamiliar with the solution and decided to obtain a Miro Full License. I have an IT and Engineering technical background and used Visio and Gliffy extensively. At first glance, I was speculative using Miro but after creating a few boards, I was hooked. Miro allows me to establish visual workflow quickly. In addition, Miro provides options for Web or Desktop-based offerings, but I only have used the online solution. The user experience is exceptional and performs well. I am now a Miro user and continue to maximize the value of the solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see Miro provide advanced shapes specifically for technology, aka Visio stencil-like capabilities. The option will allow me to create specific architectural drawings, for example, AWS, Azure, or GCP infrastructure diagrams that represent the services and network topogolgy these service providers offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
speed and performance to create diagrams and boards

Level up your collaboration

  • August 20, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to collaborate on an online whiteboard is invaluable for many management roles, whether for project reviews and brainstorming to illustrate processes. Best of all, you don't even need to use any external comms such as Zoom or Teams because it has a fully built-in meeting feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like with any software, it does have some bugs, and miro's swimaline diagram teamplate causes UI issues that keeps moving the content, which has been a reported issue for over a year. However, mostly bugs are far and few between, apart from the latency with the PC desktop app. Best solution is to simply using Miro through the browser or mobile/tablet apps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All sort, from creating business processes to facilitating project reviews, it has helped our teams to communicate both internally more smoothly and easily share work with our clients.

Miro is helping our team get its work done

  • August 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Miro has been a helpful space where our product designers have been able to do a wide range of work. We use it as a space for exploring ideas individually, between peers, or as a whole group. It's also a useful self-documenting tool -- that is, no need to create a separate Confluence page to describe the outcomes of a meeting. For example, today I was onboarding a new team member, and it was easy to pop into a Miro workshop board from several months ago to discuss how our team had worked toward an OKR objective/result in the Q1 of 2021.
What do you dislike about the product?
I struggle selecting an item to edit it and then inadvertantly selecting another tool with a keyboard shortcut. That's because I can double click on an object and think that it's in an editable state, but it's not immediately clear that whether the object is or not. If it isn't, but I think it is, then as I start typing, keyboard shortcuts will change the tool to something unintended. I run into this issue repeatedly, even though I try to avoid it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Miro often to clarify thoughts that I have swirling around in my head. I use a mind map to get my ideas out of my head, and then begin to structure them. I've used that approach for project planning, or simply organizing my day.
