Account Manager
What do you like best about the product?
I like the search functions and the ability to edit broadcast clips.
What do you dislike about the product?
The clips expire after 30 days and Meltwater doesn't pull enough non-English sources.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Media scanning - Meltwater has made this process easier.

ease of use, our account rep listened to us regarding an issue with the account that occured in 2019 and rectified the situation

having to manually add articles that aren't captured (but I like the feature), the fact that you ahve to pay extra for a service to access articles behind a paywall

What do you like best about the product?
At our nonprofit, we had a really difficult time managing our social media and press outreach needs (and associated reporting needs) with a small department of three. Meltwater offers an invaluable repository of press contacts along with simple list organization and easy in-platform outreach.
We also love the tools for social listening and reporting. Meltwater also makes it very easy to receive alerts whenever our organization is mentioned in the news - not just our exact name but also our URL. We are just beginning to discover the value in some of the other tools, such as competitor tracking.
Meltwater support has always been helpful, too. It's great to know that we can reach out and contact a real person if we have issues or small questions with the platform. Our account managers have also gone above and beyond to help us set up the features we want and need to use on a daily basis, such as more targeted reports and daily email report summaries for our key stakeholders.
We also love the tools for social listening and reporting. Meltwater also makes it very easy to receive alerts whenever our organization is mentioned in the news - not just our exact name but also our URL. We are just beginning to discover the value in some of the other tools, such as competitor tracking.

Some features aren't in place yet, such as the ability to add general newsroom contact emails to press lists along with individual reporters.

Meltwater is helping our nonprofit to access at-a-glance reporting and seamless press outreach.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great value - but you need to invest the time that it takes to make the platform work for you. Don't expect it to be a one-stop shop that doesn't require any configuration or fine-tuning.

I can preset what I want results on and it will sum it up for me to scroll through and create my smaller report.

It sometimes grabs from questionable media outlets.

Being on top of the media for all insurance related articles

It is a great tool to do Media Monitoring and generating a nice report that you can email out to your team.
Intuitive, Smart, Customer Service-Centered
What do you like best about the product?
We find the analytics abilities from Meltwater to be very thorough and exactly what our clients are looking for. There is a lot of flexibility in pulling results together.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability to compare year over year of results within widgets or analytics has been a bit limiting, but not catastrophic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to give clients insight into what their competitors are doing by using the search streams to do competitive monitoring of media coverage. We've also discovered an entirely new set of influencers by being able to search keywords to see which editors are writing about particular topics, or looking at an editor's recent work to see if our topic has already been covered.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the customer service aspect of any media monitoring or database company - the more they know, the smarter you will look to your agency and your clients.

What do you dislike about the product?
Wish there was more reach - would be nice to have a Reddit or Blog placement that Meltwater hosts as a place to post the content. Would also appreciate, perhaps your writer penning an article for you content website about the press release.

It can be hard to know if a reporter's listing is out of date or not until after it's too late.

Meltwater was the game-changer for my company
What do you like best about the product?
The depth of Meltwater's database is incredible. You can easily find the right journalist at the right publication that will help your company grow. The automated outreach tool (that is connected to the database) makes outreach fast and easy. (Before using Meltwater, I tried a manual outreach, and it was impossible to manage and scale.)
And a big win for me was Meltwater's account team. They helped me every step of the way, not just with tactics but big picture strategy.

I've experienced no downsides using Meltwater.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I worked with Meltwater to help get the word out about my distance learning site, eLearn.fyi. Meltwater got my story in the New York Times, a 5-minute feature on "CBS This Morning," and coverage in many other media outlets worldwide. My work with Meltwater continues to drive consistent organic traffic to my site daily.

No Value & Poor Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
The appeal of being able to contact reporters and find them easily using the influencer contact manager was appealing, but the service yielded no press.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost to value - the influencer contact manager is worthless and when we requested to cancel our contract with over a month's notice before the new term began noting that we had not used the service and had no plan to the following year, Meltwater noted they have 60 day to cancel terms and refused to let us out of the contract.
What contract today mandates you give 60 days to cancel, especially when it is a digital platform? I highly encourage organizations do their due diligence and do not bring on this software. You will be much better served, as we were, through hiring a PR firm to manage these.
