What do you like best about the product?

We have used Bacula Enterprise for a few years to back up all our servers, cloud files, virtual machines, VMware 7 environment and hundreds of mailboxes in the Zimbra Community system. It gives us the possibility to create several backup policies that guarantee a very effective control and ease of restoration when necessary.

What do you dislike about the product?

Requires an interface for mobile devices, today it doesn't exist;
The graphical interface needs to be more responsive and clear;
Installation client needs to be simpler to install

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Guaranteed protection against disasters and against data hijacking, thanks to the encryption options of the Bacula Enterprise backup system;
It also made it possible to backup several systems, thanks to being agnostic, being compatible with practically any operating system and application.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I believe that it is suitable for different scenarios, but it still lacks an improvement in the integration with vmware, at times it will generate snapshoots that do not erase, generating unnecessary disk space consumption, but nothing that impacts the environment and what Bacula does it best: Backup and Restore.

What do you like best about the product?

The easy and intuitive way to configure and perform backups and restores.

What do you dislike about the product?

In updates, bugs often occur in other languages.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Increase in data backup capacity in weekend windows, made possible by Bacula's high performance.

What do you like best about the product?

From the web console, which is very intuitive, simple and fast. The Dedup feature works very well, and the restore feature is very easy to use. It doesn't lose anything to the competitors I evaluated. Best value for money!

What do you dislike about the product?

Because I don't have much knowledge in Linux, it makes it a little difficult for me to do maintenance on the Operating System.
So far I have not identified improvements that should apply.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

My previous solution was very outdated and problematic, and by putting in Bacula Enterprise, we have a reliable backup again.I would say that we can use the resources we have more efficiently.

Without a doubt I recommend it, because the tool is excellent, the support is exceptional in agility and service, in addition to the value being very attractive compared to the competition.

What do you like best about the product?

The product Bacula itself is built on a robust foundation. This can be extended by a long list of additional plugins that can be used for a wide variety of backup needs. This makes Bacula very fine-granular adaptable.
The support team understands that in the long run, it's also in their interest to have their client well trained and understanding all small details of their Product. In the end, a badly designed backup solution using good software makes a bad backup solution! They solve this by taking their time to explain everything in detail and by suggesting additional features/configurations that you might be unaware of. This leads to a well-designed backup solution that the client itself understands fully and, more importantly, trusts completely.

What do you dislike about the product?

It's a proprietary piece of software. That makes it that changes can only be implemented through one path. And in the end, they have to rely on receiving feedback from clients. The client on the other end pays for a product and doesn't want to lose time improving the product they pay good money for. This can lead to minor issues that don't get attention and remain dug away.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Our HPC center is being built up currently and Bacula is the backup sollution for all Servers involved.

What do you like best about the product?

We have been working with Bacula Enterprise for the past few months.
We learned a lot and were able to set up a working production environment that has been running all our backups for around 500 servers.

A couple of things stood out:

- Pleasant onboarding.
To decide wether Bacula Enterprise was something we could use we requested a more extensive proof of concept phase to pilot the different scenarios we needed to cover in Bacula Enterprise.
Bacula Enterprise was very accomodating in this process, probably more than they strictly had to.
This exentisive pilot allowed us to solidify the case for Bacula and make a well-argued decision for the product based on real data.
- The incredibly competent support staff.
The support staff understands the product well, understands our issues, sees us as a priority, and provided fixes and features quickly.
If you manage hundreds of servers you need a partner that takes you seriously, and the support staff of Bacula Enterprise delivers that support.
- The versatile nature of the backup solution.
Bacula offers a significant amount of plugins that cover many cases.
As an MSP we need to backup a wide range of solutions ranging from KVM solutions on hardware, databases like MySQL and Postgres and container based solutions like docker and kubernetes.
It is hard to find a single backup solution that can handle all the core cases that you have. Bacula Enterprise covered nearly all of our needs out of the box. More than other backup solutions we reviewed.
- The flexible nature of the backup solution.
In our initial reviews of different backup vendors, we found that no single backup partner could cover everything we needed.
No packaged backup solution we could find provides backups for MongoDB or Elasticsearch for example.
But due to the flexible plugin nature of the product we were still able to integrate these into the backup platform
This works by wrapping around the backup tools provided by MongoDB and Elasticsearch themselves and the Bacula Bpipe functionality.
The combination of having supported plugins and being able to extend the platform yourself is a great combination for us.
This still allowed us to still have the experience of a genuinely unified backup solution.
- The pricing was just right making it significantly easier for us to make the case for Bacula Enterprise.

What do you dislike about the product?

Bacula Enterprise, as do many other complex pieces of software, comes with a steep learning curve.

- You need to invest yourself in the backup solution to make it work for you.
After you do, you will get a lot of flexibility in return. But these characteristics are probably more suitable for partners with a lot of servers and complex backup requirements.
If you manage a lot of servers and have a diverse range of backup requirements not commonly found in a single backup solution Bacula Enterprise probably make the most sense.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Most importantly we have realized a backup solution for all our servers and software in a single place.
To us it was also important to be able to restore individual files and databases as well.
Deduplication also allowed us to store the data more efficiently resulting in more effecitive usage of our hardware.

Bacula Enterprise is a great tool for those who need it.
If you consider using it take some time to make yourself familiar with the product.
Investing more time early on will help you to get the most out of the product.

What do you like best about the product?

One of my favorites features of Bacula is Global Endpoint Deduplication. It saves a lot of storage space and network traffic.

What do you dislike about the product?

Nothing to dislike really, we have run into few issues, which were resolved very quickly from the support and developers teams.

We were able to utilize Bacula with existing and new hardware as a unified backup solution for the entire company's infrastructure. It provides huge flexibility since it doesn't bind you to specific hardware or Vendor and support any platform. We are able to perform backups inside our critical timeframe and able to restore any instance physical or VM in minutes.

Bacula is a Backup solution that anyone considering for purchase should test and evaluate among the competition. From our inquires and evaluation from the most known vendors of backup solutions, Bacula was the most cost-effective, flexible and robust backup solution.

Bacule is simple and effective. It adapts to all types of equipment. The support is quick and competent. Moreover, you can even restore easily :) Which is not the case with all the tools on the market.

It is necessary to fully understand the way it works.

Bacula adapts to all types of hardware. There are very interesting plugins (VMWare, PostgreSQL). This solution is much cheaper than the very well-known ones on the market.

We had a very short deadline and it was very easy to get into a discussion with Bacula consultants to move our project forward quickly
The subscription was almost a turn-key solution and included all we needed.
Interactions with technical and sales were great.
Support was really quick to resolve minor issues.

We had a strong need to store our backups in AWS. Bacula help us to fulfill this need with the S3 plugin + HyperV plugin.
We had an old backup infrastructure with the Community Edition. The migration to the Enterprise Edition was fast and almost without issue.

What do you like best about the product?

Nice support and help for the setup and netapp support for accelerator.

What do you dislike about the product?

A little difficult on the setup but the support team is there.

We had a problem with the nfs shares and the inodes of our storage
