With Platform.sh we increased our development efficiency
What do you like best about the product?
Platform.sh allowed our company to grow our development capacity onboarding new distributed teams across the globe. The new teams had an easy onboarding process which minimised the time to actually start working in the projects.
The interface is really friendly and the granular permissions allows to keep users access under control.
Their Enterprise services are impressive and our customers are really satisfied with the infrastructure provided.

What do you dislike about the product?
We have some special needs in specific projects which require more control over the infrastructure and external dependencies, something that I expect it will be sorted out in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are creating Enterprise Digital Experiences for our customers.
The benefits experienced are a fast and reliable infrastructure that both our customers and developers love.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try with a small project and measure its effectiveness. You will never go back to your old provider.
Platform.sh facilitates the work of the entire Dev team
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how simple it is to set up the project, and mount environments on the fly
What do you dislike about the product?
The lack of resource monitoring tools, we have no visibility on the rate of consumption CPU and RAM
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has become essential in my Dev team, saving time and making it easier to set up development environments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you create or manage medium or small web projects, don't hesitate any more
good for drupal back in the day
What do you like best about the product?
provided a best-practice deployment service for drupal projects.
allowed me to focus more time on software eng rather than dev ops or sre.
allowed me to smoothly pass off projects to a customer & allow them to host on their own account but let our agency work on the project as needed.

What do you dislike about the product?

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i used platform.sh when i ran a design and development agency. it provided a heroku-esque workflow but with nice specific features that made it smoother for drupal CMS deployements.
the ability to manage access and ownership amongst clients was a big benefit - this is still a nice feature i guess!

One platform to rule them all
What do you like best about the product?
Fast and easy to apprehend and to use, Platform avoid dealing with installation and configuration of your execution environments.
Great solution for all your project when you can't afford a sys admin.
Great solution for all your project when you can't afford a sys admin.
What do you dislike about the product?
Usage of some components/frameworks not always well documented.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to provide SaaS solutions to our customer, without having to hire sysadm or devops experts.
Easy builds and server management — deploy on Fridays!
What do you like best about the product?
Everything is managed in yml, and it just works. Read-only filesystem ensures integrity of the build.
What do you dislike about the product?
It’s difficult or impossible sometimes to make small, specific tweaks to nginx config or other server config, but that’s a trade-off of having a managed server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We host dozens of clients on Platform.sh. Managing every sites’ builds and server config with yml in the Platform.sh spec makes deploys and updates a non-issue. We have multiple environments for each project that can be synced as we wish.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try a setting up a demo project and you’ll see how easy it is to get a project up and running.
The PaaS as it should be
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it easy to get from a repo to prod.
What do you dislike about the product?
It should have Splunk built in for easy insights into logs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Maximising speed to market.
PaaS that works without breaking the bank
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to customise the platform to my need. And most importantly, the awesome customer support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far. It's the better PaaS platform for Drupal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We host clients' Drupal sites on Platform.sh while leveraging on the continuous integration and multi-environment features.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do compare with other PaaS vendors. Platform.sh suits our needs but not necessarily yours. They have free trial period, utilise it and test out your application before committing. Get in touch with the support team if you're lost.
Platform.sh make life easy from local developement to production
What do you like best about the product?
Directory structure of Platform.sh and defining all configurations in .yml file is really amazing concept.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing it should improve is that it should have an option for adding DB changes or not.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All configuration requirement are mentioned in yml file and Platform.sh build it itself.
So far so good!
What do you like best about the product?
Fantastic performance and helpful support from people who know what they're doing. I'm very pleased with the speed and stability of platform.sh, and any support questions I've had have been quickly addressed by support staff, many of whom have Drupal community credibility.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve when getting started is a little steep, but once you get up to speed with the way it works it all makes sense. It's confusing at first when you're not used to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting a Drupal 7 site on a stable and affordable platform. I migrated the site away from a competitor that was growing too expensive for what they were offering. Platform.sh offers a much better value for me as a developer.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A great Drupal hosting platform, so far.
Great flexible PaaS hosting
What do you like best about the product?
Platform.sh is super flexible and can be modified to fit most needs. Its git-based workflow is really easy to use and I can get things deployed with just a commit which is super awesome! It has a build process in the deployment so you don't need to use a 3rd service like CircleCI, Travis, or Jenkins to build your app. It's supports a variety of programming languages and services. It's particularly useful to have this flexibility as the modern web becomes less monolithic so you can provision only the resources you need. By having a lean app, we've found our costs are a fair amount less than the competition (Acquia and Pantheon). The flexibility has meant elements of our site that didn't work on Pantheon work again — hurray! A year or so ago they have improved their UI and it's made a huge difference to the usability and navigation of your site's dashboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support and documentation although much better than it used to be, is still pretty lacklustre. I always go to the docs first but I often struggle to find or understand the answers they provide. When I need to create a ticket, I often find that their support personnel are slow to respond to anything that isn't critical and once they've responded initially the replies are even slower. They also often defer issues on to you (saying it's an app/code issue or you need to upgrade) rather than help solve the issue where it might be how code is interacting with the infrastructure. Having come from Acquia there is a lot of room from improvement here. There are a few other niggles, it's very sysadmin/devops based if you've never managed a server before it can be quite a daunting learning curve. The git-based deploys aren't useful for built SSRs as you can't trigger a build via a webhook or API (a la Netlify). Finally, it requires management from your end implement a caching level and monitor resources usages such as disk usage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I started building out a bespoke Docker/Kubernetes setup. I found that Platform.sh provided the majority of the features for a fraction of the setup.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go with it! you won't regret it!
