  • February 10, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB is a high-performance NoSQL database that is compatible with Apache Cassandra. It includes a built-in caching layer that can improve performance for frequently-accessed data.Additionally, it has a number of built-in monitoring and management tools that can help you keep track of the performance and health of your database. Overall, it is a highly-performant and scalable NoSQL database that is well-suited for real-time big data applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
ScyllaDB can be complex to set up and manage, particularly for users unfamiliar with Apache Cassandra or other NoSQL databases. Its built-in monitoring and management tools may not be as comprehensive as some other options on the market. Also, the cost of a commercial license for ScyllaDB is higher than other open-source alternatives.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can tell you that ScyllaDB is designed to solve several common problems associated with big data workloads. These include:

1.Advanced Data modeling features: it supports advanced features such as secondary indexes and materialized views, which can make it easier to query and analyze data.

2.Built-in monitoring and management tools: it has a number of built-in monitoring and management tools that can help you keep track of the performance and health of your database
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would definitely Recommend ScyllaDB as it's cost-effective as well as it's easy to use NoSQL database.

ScyllaDB review

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best NoSQL Database in my opinion is the ScyllaDB. The Scylla clusters with automatic backup are accessed by ScyllaDB, I like the performance of ScyllaDB and security hardening aswell.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike about the context switch, the threads require a context switch that is slow and also the lack of multi partition transactions, these are dislikes in my opinion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems I'm solving with ScyllaDB is to store the unstructured data. And also the cloud is the best. I can manage clusters with automatic backup as well. So overall ScyllaDB is the best in my opinion.

What do you like best about the product?
The alternative solution for Cassandra to improve the performance while using Janus Graph is to store the data in a graph structure
What do you dislike about the product?
It would have been great to see reference/sample configuration for Scylla db with Janus graph to achieve greater performance. currently, it is missing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to improve the performance of the back-end system while using Janus graph for storing data in a graph structure.

Awesome NoSQL database for generating reports and complex queries

  • February 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB is currently the best non-memory database to generate reports astonishingly faster. The worker node principle compared to the primary slave architecture of MongoDB, which I now use, is a huge bonus since I am not wasting any valuable system resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't get the confidence to use ScyllaDB as a full production use DB since I had a few instances where the DB terminated due to heavy load. It needs more time to mature and gain my trust for full-fledged standalone production usage.

Edit: The more recent versions of ScyllaDB are more stable. We have finally deployed the reporting server to our production environment running ScyllaDB and have faced no issues till now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use ScyllaDB in our organization to generate reports. The time taken for report generation in ScyllaDB is significantly faster compared to MongoDB, which we are currently using as our main Production DB
Recommendations to others considering the product:
ScyllaDB is great if you want to generate reports or perform complex queries on millions of data

Highly performant NoSQL DB so far

  • February 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We migrated our test environment DB from Cassandra to ScyllaDB and saw huge improvements in speed and consistency. The flexibility of having CQL and easy migration is an added bonus on top of the consistency.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't tried it production grade environment yet to find flaws, but one thing we didn't like is that the UI is a bit confusing at the beginning (especially for non-devs).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being used in test environment for data heavy application which requires consistent data at all times! Making data available at a consistent rate, open-source, uses much faster language (C++) at core.

What do you like best about the product?
Utilization of modern multi-core servers
What do you dislike about the product?
Needs CPU and I/O schedulers and CQL queryable Change Data Capture
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Covering fault tolerance with replication across multiple nodes, low latency
Recommendations to others considering the product:

ScyllaDB my favorite NoSQL Database

  • February 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fast response time and scalability of this database solution are amazing to me, coming from a SQL background. It also provides high availability and provides excellent uptime for critical workloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was a challenging database platform to get used to coming from a SQL background. I could not get the training materials at first as the documentation was a bit confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am currently building a streaming app and picked ScyllaDB to test how suitable it will be with storing sreaming data. It is pretty neat with support for a wide range of APIs, which gives me the flexibility to build in my own space.

Ultra Blazing Fast

  • February 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its native C++ implementaion and using seastar framework instead of Java thread context switching make it super fast and remove all the JVM overheads. Customizatio on IOPS is the unique factor for using it for high processing dataloads.
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation could have been better, a handy desktop client like Mongo Atlas, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are in the middle of a migration to Scylla for high throughput, able to use for Data processing workloads which boil down to IOPS optimization, page faults, etc. Availability on GCP make it easy to choose

Highly scalable and easy on my pocket!

  • February 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The unmatchable speed and pricing of ScyllaDB, it has outperformed every other NoSQL database I have tested and has managed to stay on top of all the pricing structure as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Managing of resources by non-developers can be difficult and can be improved by developing a more user friendly design approach that event a tech newbie can understand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability of Kafka streaming, global localization and many other plugins makes ScyllaDB scalable and quick
