Alteryx Turned Me From Data Janitor to Data Strategist

  • July 24, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The drag-and-drop workflow is intuitive and powerful. I love how it bridges the gap between technical and non-technical users. I’ve trained non-coders in my team to automate complex ETL jobs within a few weeks. The ability to integrate with R and Python is a bonus when I need to go beyond built-in tool
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Licensing Cost
Alteryx is powerful—but expensive. The Designer license alone is costly, and scaling to server or enterprise deployment can get prohibitive for smaller teams or startups. If your company isn’t all-in on automation, ROI might be hard to justify.

2. Performance Bottlenecks on Large Data Sets
While it’s great for mid-sized data, performance suffers when processing large datasets (especially joins and sorts). Unlike SQL engines or Spark-based tools, Alteryx loads most data into memory, so it can choke without enough RAM.

3. Clunky Version Control
No native Git integration or real versioning capabilities. Workflow collaboration feels old-school—like emailing .yxmd files back and forth. In an era of agile and CI/CD, this is a big gap.

4.Workflow Sprawl and Visual Clutter
Complex workflows can quickly become visually messy. Without discipline in using containers, color coding, and annotations, it’s easy to create a “spaghetti flow” that’s hard to debug or maintain.

5. Limited Data Visualization
Alteryx is not a visualization tool. Its built-in charting tools are minimal and not meant for dashboards. You still need to pass data to Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms for rich visualization.

6.Steep Learning Curve for Advanced Features
The basics are easy, but building macros, using the SDK, or working with spatial and predictive tools has a significant learning curve. Documentation is decent, but sometimes not detailed enough for advanced use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to spend hours cleaning, merging, and transforming raw data every week—usually in Excel or writing custom SQL scripts.

With Alteryx, I’ve automated these repetitive tasks using reusable workflows. What used to take hours now runs in minutes with one click or on a schedule

New age automation made easy

  • July 15, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The tools on alteryx are very simple and straightforward. The names and the designs are very user friendly. The UI can be navigated very easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Workflows can take longer time to run in case of larger files. Alteryx does not support notepad and word files as input files so you'll have to change the file format.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alteryx has helped me automate all my morning and EOD reports. The huge data can be consolidated and used to represent analytical information. Moreover, alteryx has been helpful in replacing Excel macros in a very efficient way.

Efficient Data Workflow Automation Using Alteryx

  • May 29, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about Alteryx is its ability to simplify complex data processes through a no-code, drag-and-drop interface. It allows me to quickly blend, clean, and analyse data from multiple sources without relying heavily on scripting.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Alteryx is powerful and user-friendly, one drawback is its high licensing cost, which can be a barrier for smaller teams or organizations. Additionally, as workflows grow in complexity, performance can sometimes lag—especially with large datasets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alteryx is solving the problem of time-consuming and manual data preparation by enabling fast, automated workflows. It eliminates the need for complex coding when performing data cleansing, blending, and transformation tasks.
