    Computer Software

A welcoming IDE for beginners and mildly for experienced makers.

What do you like best about the product?
Lightweight and simpler looking, good for absolute beginners.
Serial monitor and plotter via USB interface.
Well documented libraries.
Scratch for Arduino is good for teaching kids and non programmers.
Powerful C like language.
What do you dislike about the product?
No official dark mode.
Poor keyword highlighting.
No code prediction.
No debugger although debugging is done quite differently when handling hardware.
No built in simulation support for common devices like servos, LEDs etc.
Lack of built in version control.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arduino IDE is one of the first tools I used to get hands over IoT devices and their development. Arduino boards have amazing community support and they have a variety of supported sensors and interface options. I use Arduino IDE to program my boards and quite heavily use the built in serial monitor.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a fairly simple development environment for people interested in programming Arduino and clone boards. There is also a pro version in development right now but this one is stable and recommend for getting started.

Best for Arduino UNO/NANO

What do you like best about the product?
I have designed a temperature controller using Arduino IDE and it gives a lot of flexibility to its users to run c programs. It can be used in all platforms like Windows, macOS, Linux. It also provides a library that provides common input and output procedures it is the best feature I like use this software.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not have a web interfacing option. It would have been better if it automatically connects with the internet and I can easily write my code from around the world.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was trying to use a heater for my research to give a specific temperature. And I was very successful in getting the controller by using Arduino IDE and using a Arduino UNO board
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend others

Arduino is best for beginners

  • December 02, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used the Arduino Uno extensively as my choice of microcontroller and it is a good all-purpose board that has enough features for a beginner to get started with. Its biggest advantage is that we connect the board to the computer via a USB cable which does a dual purpose of supplying power and acting as a Serial port to interface the Arduino and the computer. Lot of extra Add-on hardware is built for Uno. Special hardware is available for Internet, Bluetooth, Motor control etc. It is value for money when compared to its pricing.
What do you dislike about the product?
It limits the knowledge to the exterior configuration and does not provide enough deep down operational features and configurations. It has very limited library.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's easy to use and very handy. Easy to connect to the computer/laptop and other peripherals using USB port. 5V input/output power supply is again more than sufficient and solves the purpose.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is the best product for the Beginners.

What do you like best about the product?
I have been working on Arduino IDE for a long time for my self-made and group IoT projects for a time of past half a year. I must say, it's a great experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
The IDE should be made more interactive, graphic based and should include more features like other IDEs in the market.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A self-driving car, KitchenSafe(a IoT based project promoting the safety in kitchen)

The best IDE Ever!!

What do you like best about the product?
Apart from its superb features like Low cost, Low system Requirement, the biggest plus in using Arduino is that the its quite easy to learn Arduino Programming. The code to be written is in simple C/C++ language which makes it easy to use for even beginners with basic C background.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a scope for few hardware modifications according to me. The socket for inserting the chord is too tight and I have seen the sockets being ripped off along with the chords which makes the Arduino Board useless with no socket. Other than that I never faced any issue regarding the IDE or Software part.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Arduino IDE proved to be a boon for me when I was working on Projects. I have done various projects with Arduino UNO R3 Board like Obstacle Avoiding Robot, Stone Paper Scissor Game Board using PushButtons. Arduino board made my work easy and all I had to focus on was proper Pin connections and developing the Programming Code in IDE.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The best IDE till date. Easy to learn.

What do you like best about the product?
Arduino IDE provides most friendly environment to work with development boards. We can use different boards & code those using Arduino IDE .I has many advantages mainly it helps for IOT development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some rare cases IDE doesn't work properly & some times it takes more time to upload code to board.
It does not select the board automatically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As i working on IOT Arduino IDE plays a major role i use it because of coding & coded more to the board with Arduino IDE & this provides a best environment for developers.

What do you like best about the product?
It helped me to develop interfacing with sensors such as water pump sensor, ultrasonic sensor, temperature sensor, soil moist indicator sensor and a motor. I couldn’t easily manage to do a personalised automated garden system.
What do you dislike about the product?
Arduino IDE software had issues in the old build, but in later builds they had removed those bugs. Few were I couldn’t connect my arduino board to the computer as it couldn’t recognise it. Though sometimes i have issues, i will have to generally uninstall and install the ide and drivers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mainly i could solve wastage of water. I coded such that each plant had a different code depending upon its water requirements. Also i could automatically create an alarm for flooded overhead tank.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For beginners I strongly recommend using this kit.
