Moderna Uses AWS to Develop Next-Gen Drugs

2021

Moderna is pioneering a new class of medicines made of messenger RNA (mRNA) and, as of May 2021, delivered more than 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Moderna began using Amazon Web Services (AWS) ten years ago and currently uses AWS services to run its research algorithms, support its digital manufacturing execution system, conduct data analytics in its clinical operations, build full integration of its digital systems, automate processes, and improve decision making with machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). Moderna also uses AWS Professional Services to upgrade its SAP platform so that it can leverage high availability and infrastructure as code. With AWS, Moderna doesn’t have to think about infrastructure–it gets the agility, scalability, and compute power it needs to support its ever-growing business.
