Driving Continuous Improvement
Recognizing the need to equip its workforce with cloud skills to support an ongoing migration, Sun Life enlisted AWS Skills Guild in 2021 to help develop a comprehensive training program. It became known as Catalysts for Cloud (C4C) and incorporates various learning methods including instructor-led training, informal events, and digital training through AWS Skill Builder and Cloud Quest. By 2024, Sun Life was ready to expand C4C and became the first North American customer to re-engage for a second AWS Skills Guild engagement. C4C re-launched in July with a fresh strategy and branding, reinforcing a learning culture to help employees innovate for the business.

Employees have reported experiencing increased ease and ability to communicate effectively with peers, driving efficiencies in collaborating across teams on projects.
Improved Onboarding
Access to on-demand digital courses is accelerating employee learning, allowing them to test and apply new learnings quicker. Recent Machine Learning knowledge gained through AWS Skill Builder is helping employees migrate users and data from on-prem to MongoDB Atlas, improving client onboarding and automating manual tasks.

By offering varying learning modalities like classroom training, on-demand self-paced, learning events, and lunch and learns, the C4C is ensuring a culture of continuous improvement.
