We are excited to announce new operating system support and new VM Import/Export and AWS Management Portal features that make it easier to migrate virtual machines from your on-premises environments to Amazon EC2.

VM Import/Export now supports importing Windows 10, SUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11-12, Fedora 19-21, and Oracle Enterprise Linux 6-7 operating system images. VM Import also supports Windows 7, 8-8.1, and Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012; Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian Linux operating systems. For a full list of supported operating systems, please refer to the OS Support documentation.

Also, the AWS Management Portal (AMP) for VMWare vCenter now supports the ability to import multi-volume VMWare disk images as both Amazon Machine Images (AMI) and EC2 instances. Also, AMP automatically creates AMIs as part of the migration, so you can quickly clone new virtual machines with the same VM image.

These features are available at no additional charge. Existing customers who have the AWS Connector installed can start using new features of AMP by enabling auto-upgrade or downloading the latest version. Please visit the VM Import/Export page and AWS Management Portal page for more information.
