Amazon Redshift Doubles the Number of Tables You Can Create in a Cluster

Posted on: Mar 15, 2018

Amazon Redshift increases the number of tables you can create to 20,000 for 8xlarge cluster node types. Doubling the number of tables gives you more control and granularity for organizing data in your cluster.

The maximum number of tables you can create per cluster is 20,000 for 8xlarge cluster node types, and 9,900 for large and xlarge cluster node types. The limit includes user-defined temporary tables and temporary tables created by Amazon Redshift during query processing or system maintenance. Views are not included in this limit.

For more information about creating a table, see Create Table Usage Notes. For more information about cluster node types, see Clusters and Nodes in Amazon Redshift. Please see the AWS Region Table for region availability.
