AWS Config Launches the Ability to Store Compliance History of Resources as Evaluated by AWS Config Rules

Posted on: Oct 18, 2018

AWS Config now allows you to record and retrieve the history of changes to resource compliance as evaluated by AWS Config rules. This can help you collect useful historical data for compliance auditing.

Previously, AWS Config rules evaluated real-time compliance states only. Compliance history is now presented as a timeline and is available to view alongside the configuration timeline in the AWS Config console. If you’ve currently opted to record all resource types in AWS Config, you will automatically begin to record the resource compliance history as evaluated by AWS Config rules. If you selectively record resource types today, you can opt-in by choosing to record AWS Config compliance history from the AWS Config settings.

The compliance history of resources is stored as configuration items and metered according to AWS Config pricing. The feature is available in Regions where AWS Config rules is currently available.
