AWS Chatbot Now Supports Notifications from AWS Systems Manager

Posted on: Aug 29, 2019

AWS Chatbot now makes it easy to receive notifications from AWS Systems Manager in your team’s Slack channels and Amazon Chime chat rooms. For example, you can receive notifications about configuration compliance or status change for a Run Command. Receiving notifications in your channels or chat rooms enables your entire team to review and collaborate quickly.

AWS Chatbot is an interactive agent that makes it easy to monitor your AWS resources in your team chat rooms. AWS Systems Manager gives you visibility and control of your cloud and on-premises infrastructure. Systems Manager simplifies resource and application management, shortens the time to detect and resolve operational problems, and makes it easier to operate and manage your infrastructure securely at scale.

To receive AWS Systems Manager notifications in chat, create an AWS Chatbot configuration that maps an Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) topic to a Slack channel or Amazon Chime chat room. Then, configure an Amazon CloudWatch Event Rule for Systems Manager that publishes to the SNS topic. When events are triggered, notifications will be automatically delivered to your chat application.
