AWS Database Migration Service now supports replicating data to Apache Kafka streaming platform

Posted on: Mar 30, 2020

AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) now enables you to replicate ongoing changes from any DMS supported sources such as Amazon Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL-compatible), Oracle, and SQL Server to Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK) and self-managed Apache Kafka clusters.

Apache Kafka enables you to perform real time analytics on your data to get insights faster than you would normally see with other data stores. With DMS adding support for Apache Kafka as a target, you don’t need a self-managed streaming data connector and your software development teams can focus more on innovation. For example, you can use DMS to aggregate ongoing change logs and metrics from applications that use multiple data stores such as Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora, MongoDB and many more to produce centralized operational data feeds and monitor everything in one place.

For more information, see “Using Apache Kafka as a target in AWS DMS."

For DMS availability, refer to the AWS Region Table.
