Change Manager, a capability of AWS Systems Manager, now allows administrators to auto-approve known and less risky changes through pre-configured change templates thereby eliminating the approval step and expediting changes.

Change Manager simplifies the way you can request, approve, implement, and report on operational changes to your application configuration and infrastructure on AWS and on-premises. With this launch, you can now enable auto-approval while creating a change template, thereby eliminating the approval step and accelerating the change process. For example, while creating a change template for a non-invasive change, such as restarting Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) instances, you can enable "auto-approve changes" in the template to ensure changes made through this template can quickly be made without an approval step. You can also restrict individual users, groups, or AWS Identity and access management (IAM) roles from submitting auto-approval requests to maintain more control.

To get started, choose Change Manager from the Systems Manager console in the left navigation menu to set up a change template and enable auto-approval. This feature is available in all AWS Regions where AWS Systems Manager is available. For more details about this feature, see our documentation.
