Amazon Elastic Container Services (Amazon ECS) has improved Amazon ECS Capacity Providers to deliver a faster Cluster Auto Scaling experience. Customers who need to launch a large number of tasks (>100 tasks) on their Amazon ECS clusters will now see their cluster infrastructure scale faster.
Amazon ECS is a fully managed container orchestration service that makes it easier for you to deploy, manage, and scale containerized applications. Cluster auto scaling is an Amazon ECS capability that manages the scaling of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Auto Scaling groups on your behalf, so that you can just focus on running your tasks. We have made several optimizations in capacity providers, which now enable Amazon ECS to adjust cluster capacity in a more responsive manner, especially in cases when a cluster needs to scale-out to launch a large number of tasks (>100 tasks) or when multiple ECS services that have disparate resource requirements are scaling-out simultaneously. These performance optimizations will help deliver a faster cluster auto scaling experience to you.
These optimizations are now automatically enabled for you in AWS Regions where ECS is available. No further action is needed from you end. To learn more, refer to Deep Dive on Amazon ECS Cluster Auto Scaling and Cluster Auto Scaling user guide.
