Amazon WorkSpaces announces general availability of version 2.0 of the WorkSpaces Streaming Protocol (WSP) host agent. WSP is a high performance cloud-native streaming protocol designed to enable your users to access a highly responsive remote desktop experience and features such as 2-way audio video and smart card support.

Powered by DCV technology, the WSP host agent version 2.0 offers significant streaming quality and performance improvements, including a better 2-way audio/video experience with distortion free high resolution video and clear audio for better web conferencing experience, end to end UDP connectivity to improve responsiveness during poor network conditions, and a reduction of network bandwidth usage without compromising on responsiveness and streaming quality.

The new WSP host agent is available on WorkSpaces for Windows and Ubuntu operating systems, and requires an updated Windows native client (version 5.4.0 or above), MacOS native client (version 5.5.0 or above), or Web Access. You need to reboot your existing Amazon WorkSpaces to update the WSP host agent to the latest available version.

Amazon WorkSpaces using WSP is available in all commercial AWS Regions in which Amazon WorkSpaces is available today as well as in AWS GovCloud (US-West).
