Amazon Redshift offers comprehensive encryption capabilities to protect your data at rest. Now, Amazon Redshift further enhances the experience of encrypting the warehouse with RA3 node types by reducing the overall encryption time and improving the availability of the warehouse during the encryption process.
Earlier, encrypting the Redshift data warehouse could be a time consuming operation especially if you had large amounts of data populated in your data warehouse. Now, with the enhancements, this process is at least 5X times faster, some times reducing the time taken from weeks to just a few days. Moreover, while the process of encrypting the data warehouse is in progress, you have much improved availability with the data warehouse becoming quickly available for queries so that you can continue to focus on your business needs.
Encryption enhancements to RA3 node types in Amazon Redshift are now available in all commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions where Amazon Redshift is available.
