Gain experience in some of our newer AWS services through hands-on workshops. AWS Instructors and Solutions Architects will walk you through step-by-step instructions on how to build serverless architectures, develop mobile applications, and connect to AWS IoT. Seating is limited and first-come, first-served, so arrive early to reserve your seat.

All participants must bring their own laptop (no tablets; requires dual-core processor with 4GB of RAM) and have an AWS Account established and ready to use at the event.

Level: Getting Started

Time: 10:00am - 11:00am

In this hands-on workshop you will learn to capture and push live data into Amazon DynamoDB using AWS IoT and AWS Lambda. You will work with the AWS IoT Device SDK, Device Gateway, Device Shadows, and Rules Engine.

Level: Deep Dive

Time: 11:15am - 1:30pm

Learn how to build a powerful social messaging app that leverages a range of AWS services. In this demo-heavy workshop, we will show you how to build an app using Apple Swift and the AWS Mobile Hub. This is a step-by-step journey where you configure and add components to your architecture, then modify and test your components. In the end, you will have a mobile app with a backend running on AWS.

Level: Getting Started

Time: 1:45pm - 5:15pm

Scenario: Zombies have taken over major metropolitan areas. The AWS Lambda Signal Corps has built a communications system to connect the remaining survivors.

Learn how AWS Lambda provides a platform for building event-driven microservices, all without the need to provision, manage, and scale servers. In this workshop, we will introduce the basics of building serverless microservices using AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon S3. You'll work within a team to build a secure, scalable, fault-tolerant chat service with global reach from scratch using blueprints provided by us.

In this session we will dive deep into AWS Cognito, specifically the recently released Cognito User Pools. We will cover the most common user-management and authentication workflows, and touch upon the different routes app development can take. At the end of the session you will have a fully-functioning Angular 2 application hosted on S3 that reads from and writes to DynamoDB, and provides a fully-managed authentication & authorization flow, without writing one line of server-side code.

Learn how to build a text enabled robot that will take your beer order, serve your pint, and notify you when it is ready, all while keeping an eye on your consumption so that you wake up on time the next morning. In this demo-heavy workshop, we will use the Zipwhip Texterator as the platform on which we will show you how to use Alexa, AWS Lambda, and AWS IoT to build the ultimate beer serving device.
