Speed matters: How to rapidly deploy hybrid architectures on AWS (Level 200)

    Speaker: Eric Scholz

The implementation of highly scalable, simple-to-deploy technology is transforming the public sector, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach. Organizations begin their cloud adoption journeys in many ways. Some start with pilot projects and others jump into mission-critical programs, but they are all starting with an existing infrastructure. Adopting cloud doesn’t mean scrapping it all and starting over. In this session, learn how education, healthcare and financial services customers have created a hybrid cloud environment with AWS through the VMware Cloud service. We will review how to best build and ramp your organization to take advantage of cloud functionality and deliver full lifecycle engagement.

  • 10:45 AM – 11:15 AM

Purpose-built databases for modern applications (Level 300)

    Speaker: Blair Layton

Seldom can one database fit the needs of multiple distinct use cases. The days of the one-size-fits-all monolithic database are behind us, and developers are building highly distributed applications using many purpose-built databases. We are increasingly seeing customers wanting to build Internet-scale applications that require diverse data models. In response to these needs, developers now have the choice of relational, key-value, wide column, document, in-memory, graph, time-series, and ledger databases. Each solves a specific problem or group of problems. In this session, learn how AWS purpose-built databases meet the scale, performance, and manageability requirements of modern applications.
