    AWS Technical Workshop
    Dev - BUILD it!

Modern Front End development with AWS Amplify

Speaker: Gabe Hollombe, Technical Evangelist, AWS

Learn how to build modern front end application (React JS) — how to add analytics, user authentication and backend API calls easily using AWS Amplify. AWS Amplify is designed to give a declarative interface to frontend developers looking to perform common actions using cloud services in a scalable and secure manner. These capabilities allow developers writing JavaScript applications (eg: AngularJS, React, Vue etc) to programmatically apply best practices with common abstractions for faster development cycles.

All attendees must bring their own laptop with the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.

    Time: 11:00am – 1:30pm

    AWS Technical Workshop
    Dev - BUILD it!

Build modern backend without worrying about servers

Speaker: Arthi Jaganathan, WWCS Solutions Architects, AWS

This lab will walk you through the steps to create a well-architected sample web application. You will learn to host the frontend on Amazon S3 and a containerized web server on AWS Fargate to power the RESTful API backend. AWS Fargate allows you to run containers without having to manage servers or clusters. You will use a NoSQL database provided by Amazon DynamoDB to store the data. You will also learn to set up user authentication with Amazon Cognito and will be able to collect and analyze user behavior.

All attendees must bring their own laptop with the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.

    Time: 2:30pm – 5:00pm

    AWS Technical Workshop
    Ops - RUN it!

DevSecOps with Docker and AWS Fargate

Speaker: Eng-Hwa Tan, WWCS Solutions Architects, AWS

We will build CI/CD pipelines that automatically build, test, and deploy your applications using AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, and AWS CloudFormation. You will also learn how you can embrace security without slowing down by automating preventive and detective controls as part of your pipeline.

All attendees must bring their own laptop with the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.

    Time: 11:00am – 1:30pm

    AWS Technical Workshop
    Ops - RUN it!

Build with Containers on Amazon EKS

Speaker:  Brent Langston, Sr. Developer Advocate, AWS

Learn how to define and launch a fully managed Kubernetes cluster using Amazon EKS. We'll then build a CI/CD pipeline for our sample application and deploy it on Amazon EKS. We'll finish up by setting up logging, monitoring and service mesh for our EKS cluster. Amazon EKS runs the Kubernetes management infrastructure across multiple AWS Availability Zones. It runs upstream Kubernetes and is certified Kubernetes conformant, so applications managed by Amazon EKS are fully compatible with applications managed by any standard Kubernetes environment.

All attendees must bring their own laptop with the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.

    Time: 2:30pm – 5:00pm

    AWS Technical Workshop
    Data - DNA it!

    Building a Serverless Data Lake

Speaker: Unni Pillai, WWCS Solutions Architects, AWS

Learn how to create a serverless data lake architecture, ingest data at scale from multiple data sources, transform the data, and how to catalog it to make it available for querying using a variety of tools. You will also learn how to set up governance and data quality controls. We will build a data processing pipeline and Data Lake using Amazon S3 for storing data, Amazon Kinesis for real-time streaming data, AWS Glue to automatically catalog datasets. You will also learn how to interactively author ETL scripts in an Amazon SageMaker notebook connected to an AWS Glue development endpoint, and how to deploy your ETL scripts into production by turning it into managed AWS Glue jobs and add appropriate AWS Glue scheduling and triggering conditions.

All attendees must bring their own laptop with the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.

    Time: 11:00am – 1:30pm

    AWS Technical Workshop
    Data - DNA it!

Machine Learning in Action, Building Predictive Models

Speaker: Pedro Paez, WWCS Solutions Architects, AWS

In this workshop, you will learn how to train a machine learning model using Amazon ML technologies. By the end of this workshop we will build an end-to-end pipeline that serves real-time predictions on streaming data. As data exponentially grows in organizations, there is an increasing need to use machine learning (ML) to gather insights from this data at scale and to use those insights to perform real-time predictions on incoming data.

All attendees must bring their own laptop with the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.

    Time: 2:30pm – 5:00pm

    Bootcamp

Predict the Future with Time Series Forecasting and Deep Neural Networks

Speaker: Benedict Lee, Technical Trainer, AWS

Forecasting is an entry point to applying machine learning across many industries. Whether it’s optimizing the supply chain through better product demand forecasts, allocating computing resources more effectively by predicting web server traffic, or saving lives by staffing hospitals to meet patient needs, there are few domains where accurate forecasts don’t return their investments quickly. This bootcamp is designed to provide you with the conceptual understanding and tools you need to apply forecasting in your own work.

All attendees must bring their own laptop with the current version of Chrome or Firefox installed.
