Ubuntu Server Review

  • June 01, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like so many things about Ubuntu Server such as the way it has been developed. It has made the installation/update of any software/library easy. Open any folder/directory in the new tab. And it's free so we do not have to used it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Till now, I have not found any issues except some minor bugs. Sometimes (once in a year) its shows a few chunks of memory is corrupted that can be fixed easily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used it to connect the master node with multiple nodes. And access all the nodes from the master nodes. I was using it till last year for doing the PhD research-related experiment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For someone who is still not using the Ubuntu Server, I would suggest first use it for a few months. Then he/she will start loving it because it has a lot of features. Any libraries related to it are easily available.

What do you like best about the product?
Linux is the best alternative for windows users. There are lot of linux distro to choose but time and time again ubuntu has been the goto distro for all beginners. Here are the advantages of linux

Security - There are not lot of viruses made for linux so it is particularly safe and even if you are infected the damage can be reversed easily.

Updates - They are not intrusive as windows 10 updates and no long wait time

Usability - The linux GUI has come a long way and has become one of the most user friendly distro. even if you don't like the current DE you can always choose from many other flavors
What do you dislike about the product?
ome of it is tribal. We are seeing a replay of the 90s "Unix wars". Back then, the battle was between Sun, HP, Digital, SGI, SCO, AT&T, and others.

Today, the battle is between the RedHat camp (RHEL, Fedora, CentOS) and the Ubuntu camp (Ubuntu, Debian, and derivatives) and the SuSE camp. With a number of other smaller camps alongside (Gentoo, Arch etc.). Some of the sides have picked up unthinking fanboys who love to trash the others without any particular thought or understanding, and that's where a lot of the partisan "hate" comes from. But the real underlying competition here is between RedHat, Canonical and SuSE (the companies, not the products).

Quite a number of software changes over the course of the last decade+ have been all about increasing one corporation's control over the wider free software ecosystem. All of them have done it in various forms. And none of it has been for the benefit of the wider free software ecosystem which Linux inhabits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu is Open source that means its Free to use for anyone unlike other OS.
It is also faster and have more security compared to Microsoft.
With increasing community Ubuntu is evolving faster and getting support for any problem is now easier.
It can handle large scale program easily.

Best OS in the world

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu Desktop has all the best features. It qualifies as the world Operating system. If one has to learn computer I suggest them start with Ubuntu. Though the windows is user friendly one cannot learn computer using the windows but one can easily learn using ubuntu.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu has nothing to dislike in fact, but yet when compared to other operating system it has got UI of raw system level which is a bit difficult to understand in the initial stage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All industrial problems can be solved using ubuntu. I have personally learned whole computer science courses using ubuntu. Given an option, I would only use ubuntu rather than any other OS.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just blindly go for the OS.

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy in development, once a user is familiar with the command line they can use it in the development. And it's completely flexible.
eg: I added a refresh button myself.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since it's less in use as compared to other o.s like windows so there might be some less software availability that users might addicted to other O.S
eg: I didn't find InternetDownloadManager for ubuntu
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to do development using Ubuntu Desktop, Since the developer community like to do everything in the command line there ubuntu helps us with its easy to use CLI. so I really love using ubuntu during development.

What do you like best about the product?
After using windows, it feels fast and smooth, comes without much bloatware like windows and provides mac os level security free of cost so for a coder, it will become a playground where you can play with your skills and development will be fun
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially, when I moved to the Ubuntu desktop from Windows 8, I found it very difficult to work and manage my files and everything its UI looks old and sometimes it does not support some applications which can be annoying
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can code way faster and efficiently in a ubuntu-desktop environment because it is fast than others and I also use an SSH server that helps in development in a local environment
