A reliable, powerful, and user-friendly operating system

  • September 16, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how stable and secure Ubuntu feels right out of the box. The interface is clean, intuitive, and customizable to my workflow. The fact that it’s open-source with such a strong community behind it means I can always find support, new tools, and creative solutions. Plus, it runs quickly even on older hardware, which makes it super versatile.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only drawback is compatibility. Some specialized or proprietary software, especially in industries that depend heavily on Windows-only programs, isn’t always available on Ubuntu. While there are workarounds with Wine or virtualization, it can take extra time and tweaking. Occasionally, hardware drivers also require manual setup, which might feel intimidating for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu solves the problem of expensive, restrictive software by giving me a fully free and open-source operating system that doesn’t compromise on performance. It makes my workflow more secure and efficient, with far fewer system crashes or forced updates than I’ve experienced on other platforms. It also helps me learn more about technology since it encourages tinkering and customization, which has boosted both my confidence and productivity.

Clean, stable

What do you like best about the product?
Easy install, solid LTS releases, and great hardware support out of the box. apt has huge repos, so most tools are one command away. Perfect for dev work—Docker, Python, Node, C/C++, Git, SSH—everything runs smooth. Updates are predictable, docs/community are strong, and it’s lightweight enough for old laptops or cloud servers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Snaps can feel slow and a bit confusing vs apt. Some packages lag behind cutting-edge versions. NVIDIA and a few Wi-Fi chips still need extra love.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
can spin up dev and prod boxes fast with apt, Docker, and systemd. Same stack on laptop, VM, and server.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is easy to get started with , even for people who are new to linux. installation is simple and most of the drivers and software i need work right away without extra setup. i use it daily for development running docker, and managing servers and it's very stable. it has a good balance of features - everything from package management with apt to built-in tools like snap.integration with cloud providers and ci/cd tools is smooth, which makes it fit well into our workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
updates sometimes bring small compatibility issues, especially after upgrading to a new LTS version. customer support is mostly community-driven unless you pruchase canonical's enterprise support, which might be limitation for companies that want faster assistance. Hardware compatibility can still be tricky for things like certain wi-fi adapters or gpus
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ubuntu provides a stable and consistent environment for development and production. by using the same OS locally and on servers, it eliminates the works on my machine problem and reduces deployment issues. it also saves costs since it's free and open-source , while still offering the reliability needed for critical systems. for our team , this means faster development , fewer bugs caused by environment mismatches, and overall smoother project delivery.

What do you like best about the product?
As a Data engineer I have been using ubuntu over 2 years, as my primary development environment for several years. i love its stability and how well it support open source tools .Setting up environments for Python, Spark, Docker is east. The community is excellent , if i got any issue, chances are someone else has already solved it and documented it. and the package management with apt makes it easy to install or update dependencies.
What do you dislike about the product?
hardware compatibility can sometimes be tricky, especially with certain drivers like graphics, printers etc. also windows or macOS users could face difficulties at starting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu has been reliable, lightweight and well suited for data engineering workload. it reduces setup headaches, integrates seamlessly with data environments. and gives me a consistent, flexible platform for both development and deployment. it also plays nicely in production environments. most cloud servers and Docker images are based on Ubuntu, so developing locally feels very consistent with deploying pipelines on cloud infrastructure.
