Overall can save you a lot of time

What do you like best about the product?
The worklets are by far the best feature of automox. Running scripts with system privileges isn't anything new really, but automox really simplifies the process. There's a built-in bot to help you automate some processes if you're inexperienced and they have a worklet catalog with some pre-built scripts that are really useful. This feature is much more thought out than other scripting features used by other services.
What do you dislike about the product?
Automating remediations that aren't builtin with automox, such as fixing vulnerabilities reported from your SIEM tool.
It can be difficult to automate that these so that when they're reported, they get fixed right away. I usually have a worklet setup to run to fix on these computers that get vulnerabilities reported. It's usually easiest to run them ad-hoc, but this can be time consuming. You can create groups to execute worklets against, but I wish I could target any list of computers I chose from the policy itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automox helps me automate patching in a environment that's hosted on multiple platforms. It provides me a lot of tools with it's worklets to speed up tasks and investigate issues.

    Investment Management

Good for device management, needs some support improvement.

What do you like best about the product?
It's good for device management and we can keep most of the software/OS updated. It's also good for keeping track of devices that fail to update or have specific CVEs when we're made aware of them. I use it almost every day for managing device deployment and updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is some lacking support in software we use (RStudio is the main issue we have). It would be great if the software updating support could be expanded
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing a large device base in a 200-ish employee company with varying versions of Windows and Linux, as well as various software, of which many require admin credentials to update if this product was not being utilized for management.

Automox the ultimate solution for Vulnerability Management

  • October 08, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate Automox for its simplicity and effectiveness in managing our patching needs. The automated patch management feature allows us to quickly address vulnerabilities across our systems without manual intervention, which saves us valuable time. I also like the real-time visibility it offers; being able to see the patch status of our devices at a glance helps us ensure compliance and quickly identify any issues. Overall, Automox has made our patching process much smoother and more efficient, giving me confidence in our security posture.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I’ve found Automox to be a valuable tool for patch management, there are a few areas that could be improved. Sometimes, the learning curve can be a bit steep, especially for new users who may struggle with the initial setup. Additionally, I wish there were more customization options available for policies and workflows, as this would allow us to tailor the patching process more closely to our specific needs. Overall, these minor drawbacks don’t overshadow the benefits, but they are worth noting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automox has been a game changer for me and my team when it comes to patch management. By automating the patching process, we can quickly address vulnerabilities without spending hours on manual updates. The platform’s real-time visibility allows us to easily monitor the status of our devices, which has made it simpler to ensure compliance and identify any potential security gaps. This efficiency not only saves us time but also gives us greater confidence in our security posture. Overall, Automox has streamlined our workflow, enabling us to focus more on strategic tasks rather than getting bogged down in routine patching.

Great tool for all systems

What do you like best about the product?
We use automox for server patching. One of the great things about automox was the ability to patch/target all systems. Including Linux systems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike. Pricing could be a little better for the whole suite.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had an atrocious WSUS environment. This allowed us to get our patching under control and make sure things were patched in a timely manner.

Review of Automox as inventory tracking and remote management

  • October 07, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I think Automox is a very user friendly GUI. It's easy to jump right into it and know what you are looking at. I basically taught myself how to use it within a day, which for softwares such as these is pretty impressive. I am also a fan of the filters and how well they are laid out, it's quite easy to find what you are looking for in a quick pinch. The features in remote management areas are top notch, I feel like softwares of the like for similar products don't work well with triggering remote updates, but Automox does which just makes my life a whole lot easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only gripe or dislike is when I'm in devices and set a filter, if I click into a specific device and go back to the main device page it clears my filters, otherwise the product is fantastic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A lot of things can be set to automation, and that saves a whole lot of time to do my other daily duties as a Systems Administrator.

Automox: An Effective Solution for Patch Management

  • October 07, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Automox is its ease of use. The interface is intuitive and allows us to manage system updates quickly, which saves us a lot of time
What do you dislike about the product?
One area for improvement is the limited reporting features. It would be great to have more detailed insights into patch compliance and system status
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automox addresses several key problems for us. A major issue it solves is the need for mass deployment of updates and software, which greatly reduces the manual workload and minimizes the risk of human error. It also ensures that our systems remain compliant with security standards by automating the patching process. The overall benefits of improved security and reduced manual effort is very practical.

Makes it relatively easy to wrangle OS and 3rd party app patching

  • October 05, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For admins who are familiar with things like Jamf and SCCM there isn't much of a learning curve here.

Automox does quite a bit well, and they seem willing to take on the challenge of patching new apps that aren't in their catalog yet. I am cautiously optimistic that they will start to take care of a few edge titles in my specific environment that have very frequent updates, and is a pain to manually patch.

OS updates and Upgrade management is a major reason we turned to this platform and by all indications, it is going to fit the bill quite well.

How things are orginized in the platform makes sense, and gives you a lot of good information at a quick glance.

At our tier, we have custom onboarding which has greatly facilitated our implemtation of this. I look forward to finalizing things.

The added bonus of things like a remote support tool add a ton of value to us.

In my experiences with their support arm - they seem competent and generally provide a timely and cohearant response to questions and issues I have.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would really like to see the ability to customize the branding on the notificaions a bit, and get way more granular in the types of notificaions we send out to our end users. On windows, there is a generic Green checkbox, and I feel that the notificaions piece could be greatly improved.

On the macOS side, I think Automox would *GREATLY* benefit from using something like swiftdialog to enhance the ability to brand, and customize precisely what our users see.

I wish that the process for secure token on the macOS side was a bit less painful, but being fair to Automox, Apple has not made this easy for anyone, and I do have a solution that works, it is just sub optimal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This will help our security posture, compliance and change management greatly. When there are critical updates we can force them quickly. When there is an update known to cause problems we can slow roll it. We can choose the day and time we want to have patches apply, and we can set up groups with different paramenters.

Remote support from anywhere is a huge added value for us.

OS updates and upgrade management is another huge area that Automox solves for us.

Automox is efficient, intuitive and simple to use

  • October 04, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
With Automox, we effectively maintain our clients and servers at performance and security by ensuring they're always up to date. Our team also leverages the community feature to discover innovative scripts, which further enhances our reach. The service offers us reliability and smooth operations, giving us peace of mind. Personally, I find the tool intuitive and user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
An aspect that could be improved on the platform is the script deployment process. It can be challenging to track the progress of scripts, and at times, I found it difficult to locate script logs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since adopting Automox to streamline patch management for our operating systems and third-party applications, our organization experienced several key changes. We've saved time and effort on client and server maintenance, and our security has strengthened as a result. We have gained back valuable time that we can now dedicate to other critical IT tasks.
