Centralized device control has reduced data costs and protects lost mobiles and tablets

  • February 10, 2026
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is a great product that we implemented to protect our devices, such as computers and mobiles from cybersecurity threats. We use IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson to manage our company's iPads and other devices, which allows us to manage every aspect of the device. We are able to centralize the deployment of apps to the devices. Users no longer need to keep up with Apple ID credentials. We can track devices if they are lost and wipe them if needed.

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson provides comprehensive security features such as mobile threat defense, secure containerization, and app distribution controls, which is a quick specific example of how I have used it to solve a real problem or situation at my company. This is what makes it a great tool for any organization that requires strict security and compliance controls.

What is most valuable?

The best features IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson offers include providing a centralized admin for all the systems, protecting all the systems from cybersecurity threats, and great integration with any operating system. App management, deployment features, ease of use, overall application distribution, device control, and device location are other prominent features.

I find myself relying on all the features I mentioned, including centralized admin, device protection, integration, app management, ease of use, device control, and location, the most day-to-day because they are very robust and helpful. Because we use it, it helps us to control mobile devices, limiting their functions and deploying desired applications. If you provide a mobile device without a limit, the users can abuse the data plan and settings for the device, especially for any organization. Having full control of them is beneficial.

The tracking of devices is a critical feature. In any location, we can track devices if they are lost and wipe the data out or wipe them completely. This helps to protect our data.

Everything since we started using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has been phenomenal, especially security, which has improved overall on our devices and our data. We have increased administrator efficiency by easing deployment. License management is easier. We have been able to cut costs around 30 to 40% as it helped us manage all our systems with different or same software. IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson offers best-in-class security controls for any of our devices. When lost or stolen, we are able to wipe it out.

What needs improvement?

Synchronization is a problem sometimes, and I suggest that IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson should improve by making the user interface more user-friendly. It feels pretty average, which gives a hard time for new users. It should be more user-friendly and intuitive.

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson should reduce the cost of the per-device subscription, because when you have a lot of devices like our organization has, it becomes pretty expensive to manage all the devices. It should also allow simplified device management.

The cost reduction of 30 to 40% is primarily from reduced device losses, less manual work for admins, and other factors. The more devices you have to manage, the more the cost, especially because they bill per device. In our case, IBM Security MaaS360 can be a bit expensive. It could be less expensive for a small organization dealing with a few devices. The setting is slightly complicated because of the unintuitive interface.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson for the last seven years, and I was using this tool also when I was in my previous organization.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is stable. According to my experience and how I have used it over those years, I have not seen any downtime or lagging.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is very scalable because we can manage over 1,000 devices at a time and it has never crashed or limited the number of devices we can manage.

How are customer service and support?

The customer support for IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is relatively very proactive, responsive, and helpful.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat Reader before IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson.

How was the initial setup?

For others looking into using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, I advise that the new device setup and deployment are fairly easy. However, getting off the ground with the initial setup is a bit tough and it needs to be easier to get going. Training a new device manager is not straightforward, as it requires too much tutorial to get someone proficient in changing, adding, and deleting devices. It can take considerable time learning all of those processes.

What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment with IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson. We were able to reduce our monthly bill for iPad data usage by well over 60% simply by limiting applications available to what was absolutely necessary to do their jobs. We have never had an iPad lost that could not be recovered. IBM Security MaaS360 has been a really helpful tool in our organization. We are also able to reassign iPads when we discovered our techs were not using them, as some techs preferred to use their company phones. These iPads are given to the new hires.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I purchased IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson through the AWS Marketplace.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated other options such as Fulbe before choosing IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson.

What other advice do I have?

Integration with the operating system works great with IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson. I rate IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson an 8 out of 10 because this tool has been really cost-effective, especially since we were able to reduce our monthly bill for iPad data usage by well over 60% simply by limiting the application availability to what was absolutely necessary to do their jobs. We were also able to reassign iPads when we discovered techs were not using them, as some techs preferred to use their company phones, which makes it more cost-effective since we do not have to buy other new iPads for the new hires. I also appreciate that IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson allows deployment of new applications with minimal interaction with users. It also provides constant location information, and we know if an iPad is lost sometimes before the device user knows it is missing.

Centralized device control has increased remote security and simplified kiosk-based operations

  • December 06, 2025
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I have been using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson for roughly three years now.

My main use case for IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is to manage, configure, and secure our customers' devices, and it also enables us to quickly set up streamlined enrollment of our devices. It also helps us to create complex policies to configure all our devices.

A specific example of how I used IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson to manage or secure a customer's device is that it easily puts devices into kiosk mode and limits functionality for kiosk-based or purpose-driven devices. Setting up compliance rules allows for granular control to enforce company policies around data access. For example, device location can be used to take action such as send a message, lock a device, or even wipe data.

What is most valuable?

The best features IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson offers include placing devices into kiosk mode, remote troubleshooting, and location tracking.

Remote troubleshooting and location tracking have helped my team or my customers by enabling us to lock our company-issued tablets into kiosk mode, allowing us to resolve issues remotely and easily. It also allows location tracking so that we can lock a device or trace it when it's stolen.

The user interface is very user-friendly and easy to customize.

IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson has positively impacted my organization by enabling us to manage all our devices in one place, settle all the issues remotely through troubleshooting, and it allows the AI feature for reporting. Security analysis is also great, and for security strengthening, it allows us to deal with endpoints with integration on various types of platforms.

I have been able to see measurable benefits such as getting more people on board who are working remotely, and it has enabled us the ability to access emails and chats. The system on the go is great, and the ability to run business on the go has proved to be very efficient and productive.

What needs improvement?

One area IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson can be improved is that once a device is lost, I have to continue to pay for the license, which should be looked upon and configured otherwise. Additionally, the customer support is not that helpful and not very proactive, so they should increase their proactiveness and provide support 24/7.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson for roughly three years now.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used a different solution, which was Microsoft Intune.

What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment, as I am able to access all the devices and my application at any given location, and the devices are secured with less fear of data loss in my organization.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that the pricing is acceptable and cost-effective, with no major issues on the price.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, I evaluated other options, including Microsoft Intune and Cisco Meraki.

What other advice do I have?

I rate IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson eight out of ten because with IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson, I am able to control all my devices, reduce all the security incidents, and manage essentially all types of devices and diverse industry use cases to protect them from harm. My overall review rating for this product is eight out of ten.
