What do you like best about the product?
We like the support for multiple languages along with the APIs they provide. Our developers love it. We also like the integration with AWS Lambda & API gateway.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are still in pilot phase. So far so good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We publish lot of blog posts for our customers. Sometimes we publish 30-40 blog posts a week. Most of the content is related to tech and how customers can use different services. We are able to gauge how much impact is it creating based on the analytics.

Delightful for marketers too

  • August 24, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Contentful markets to devs a fair amount, but the product is pretty great for us end users too. The page hierarchies are super clear. It's really easy to create new pages, and not break everything, and not have to beg your web dev to prioritize your project. Easy to use dashboard keeps everything in control. Also has really good author/user controls compared to other CMS.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's harder to hack together a page with Contentful than it is on Wordpress in the HTML view, but that's probably a good thing, since you won't have marketers coming in and breaking everything :).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a great tool for launching custom landing pages and microsites for campaigns (like say, for events). You can easily use a single template then continue to reuse it.

Great if you don't know how to code

  • August 24, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The UI is really nice. I have a lot of flexibility around configuration. I also like how much I was able to do just using the free version of their application. Having all my content in one place is great too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can't view how the page is structured - cross-browser.

Kinda slow at times when doing more complex tasks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a bunch of people managing content and we're also about to launch a new website.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you spend a lot of time with your CSM. Getting your environments all set is the most important thing you can do early on.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Great for nonprofits

  • August 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I mostly use Contentful's CMS interface. It's easy for a large team to manage and update. We built our site using components and the content model is well suited for translating those components into content types and pages. We have built two iterations of our site on Contentful. Our developers love building with Contentful's framework. It gives us a lot of flexibility and allows our staff to have more control over content that isn't so dependent on code.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's no out-of-the-box blog solution so we use a third-party blogging platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're a nonprofit so we need to have a site that can handle both evergreen and new content.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Their customer service can be slow to respond. It would be nice if they had a hotline or chatbot.

Impressive Headless CMS Service

  • May 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Extensive feature set, good documentation
What do you dislike about the product?
Some technical challenges when integrating
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My business has a new website with its content managed by Contentful. Contentful's service has given us the freedom to use our preferred tools and platforms to build the website, while taking away the headaches of creating our own CMS or using a tightly integrated 3rd party CMS.

Content is managed by a number of different people with varying technical skills. The clarity and simplicity of the Contentful features and interfaces makes it straight forward to maintain our content and train new staff in how to do so. In addition, the fine grained user permissions and roles allow us to restrict editing of specific content to certain trusted users. This was a key requirement for us.

From a technical perspective, after initial trial and error and some hiccups, the integration and tooling provided by Contentful helped us get up and running quickly. Contentful's documentation is very thorough and their support very responsive, so any issues we had were quickly resolved.

I would happily recommend Contentful to businesses looking for a powerful and flexible CMS solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Impressive headless CMS service with good tooling for technical integration with many languages and platforms. User facing interface for managing content is clear and easy to use. Documentation is thorough and support is responsive and friendly. Recommended.

An easy to setup and use CMS

  • April 03, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The admin interface is fairly easy to use and understand. It's also well featured and easy to bulk do some tasks. It's great that you can create multiple spaces so that you can have test space for testing data easily and it's easy to switch between. The documentation for using the API is fairly accurate which is helpful for engineers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their API rate limits are on the low side particularly for the Content Management endpoint. When running a bulk update via their API, we have to throttle the rate quite a bit. I'm not sure if that's more because we are on a cheaper plan though. The admin interface can get a bit cumbersome to use particularly when editing nested referenced objects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A fast delivery and easy storage of content that can be managed by Marketing but be defined by Engineering if need be.

Useful GUI for a web site data model

  • March 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Straightforward interface that is easy for most any team member to use when needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Markdown text is difficult to read when trying to edit within the GUI. Not awful, but can be tiresome after awhile.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Contentful to house our database model and objects. It stores our content, easily delivers info to JSON files, and hooks into S3. Pretty simple to make updates, but, for the complexity of our web app, we have to do a lot of backend work that, often, needs a person to go through and update.

However, we developed an API that syncs content from 3rd party documents that now updates our Contentful instance when content areas are unequal. Definitely useful in that way.

TLDR: Contenful is simple for most end users to get the basics, advanced for developers to use for data models, and delivers data to JSON and servers quickly and efficiently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Contentful is great if you have what seems to be a special case for data management relative to a web app. We're able to implement any programming language, and that would be a pain with some other CMS options. Our data is intricate and the web app is only used by about 350 users per month, so we'll see how it does @ scale.
