Review of Stream by AlphaSense
What do you like best about the product?
I like that I have the ability to do calls and read transcripts from other calls to learn unique insights about many companies and industries. Steam sources many excellent experts.
What do you dislike about the product?
My largest complaint is that sometimes the volume of experts sourced by Stream is not as high as I would like. In other words, I like the product and can not get enough of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides a high quality library of expert network calls to help me get information from a wide variety of sources that I can piece together to make better investment decisions. It also sources experts for me to do calls that will end up in the library.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend trying it and reaching out to Carrie to learn more.
Great database of expert calls for a wide variety of companies
What do you like best about the product?
Stream's transcripts offer an efficient way to read in depth expert opinions on a company that would take far longer to try to assemble on your own.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the expert call transcripts are less in depth than others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stream's database of expert call transcripts is useful in getting up to speed quickly on a target company and its competitors in a variety of industries.
Highest quality calls in the industry
What do you like best about the product?
High-quality calls and robust search capabilities
What do you dislike about the product?
It's hardly a "downside," but you can get overwhelmed by the quantity of content sometimes. This is where the intelligent search function comes in handy!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stream helps us quickly get up to speed on new ideas (or find new ideas altogether) because they are unmatched, in our view, in the two most important categories - call quality and searchability. The call quality is the best we've seen. Experts are well-vetted by Stream associates to ensure they have the right experience and knowledge about the topic at hand. Further, high-quality analysts provide a thoughtful line of questioning and, more often than not, will properly clarify, quantify and specify timing related to key issues. Not only does Stream offer a high-quality database of content, but searching for topics is easy, intuitive and thorough due to the intelligent search platform that captures all related keywords that might be relevant to the search topic. This lets us quickly identify the relevant section(s) of the content we need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking to increase idea-flow and improve the efficiency of your research process, Stream is definitely the way to go!

What do you dislike about the product?
No element of AS strikes out as something I dislike at the moment
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
AS has been helpful in compiling and consolidating management commentary from earnings transcripts
Max Efficiency and improved productivity
What do you like best about the product?
Incredible flexibility with search filters and search keywords connected to geography & company/set of companies is very unique
What do you dislike about the product?
May be, the UI could improve even further. But not sure how, probably something familiar to other websites could help during initial learning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving for tracking specific searches within a set of companies and a great tool to catch synonymous keywords for your search including relevant semantics.
Helps massively improve efficiency and generate broader PoV around key themes

A very thorough product with a 'beyond the bloomberg terminal' experience
What do you like best about the product?
I like the summarisation tools surrounding the transcripts, such as the green/red highlighting for positive/negative points about a company. This helps me get to the meat of the discussion quickly and determine whether it is worth looking at in more detail. Also, the ability to make a request for companies not currently on the terminal is brilliant - almost an open-source approach to growing their database.
What do you dislike about the product?
The sector outlook is great, but it needs work - often there are sectors peers that do not quite fit with the target company, though I am pretty sure Stream is looking to patch this up soon as the platform grows and develops.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed something more than just financial databases and earnings calls/annual filings. The latter only really discusses things in a positive light, whilst the former contributes very little to understanding a business and its underlying issues. I very much wanted to go backstage when analyzing potential companies, which is where Stream came in.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would take the plunge and give it a try. Their database is growing every day and I am confident that they will eventually reach almost every corner of global markets.
Great tool to quickly build industry perspective
What do you like best about the product?
When researching a company in a new industry or maintaining awareness in a followed industry, Stream saves a significant amount of time by sourcing quality interviewees. It has become a go-to source early in the research process for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
These are a bit nitpicky, but Stream could be better in a couple of areas. The first is better integration with other investing tools like BamSEC and other data analytics providers. The second would be better search results. For example, sometimes the search tool misses keywords, and sometimes I need to search around the exact keyword I want to find what I'm looking for. This doesn't often happen, though, and I am generally quite happy with the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stream helps bring together industry participants to discuss current industry trends, future developments, and company-specific perspectives. Historically, this research step takes a great effort to curate the correct interviewees. Stream saves significant time by curating qualified interviewees and then providing tools to catalog and help find specific research items.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for data/insights to determine a company's next quarter, Stream is NOT for you. However, if you want a service and tool to quickly build industry awareness early in the research process, Stream is definitely for you.
Stream is an amazing tool / option for analysts - best way to catch up to industry experts quickly.
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part is the summaries. It allows me to digest a ton of information and screen which calls will be most helpful and relevant. Other services don't have this.
What do you dislike about the product?
My only concern is these services become table stakes for all analysts. Ie the extra benefit is no longer a benefit but a requirement. Even if so, its an incredible resource for learning quickly, which will always make my life as an analyst much easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They help find amazing contacts and their analysts do a great on calls asking the important questions. I can schedule follow up calls to go deeper if i want. This makes my life easier as an analyst.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Strongly recommend, arguably my favorite resource out there.
Stream Has A Healthy Database of Knowledgeable Experts That I Use Regularly For My Research
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Stream consistently sources qualified experts for the companies that I am interested in.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the call audio quality could still be improved
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is primarily helping me to more efficiently allocate my time when it comes to research. I can quickly get up to speed on a business and go deeper when necessary.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The question of whether or not to pay for Stream comes down to your own personal budget and how much you value your time. I believe that you only get quality insights from having numerous conversations with people about a subject. Stream helps me in that sense because they have proven capable of sourcing numerous experts on a given subject/company and that expedites my research process. I can either very quickly pass on a company or go deeper in ways that were previously much slower.
Sream by Alphasense is a consistently reliable source of industry expertise
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Stream is its simplicity, making vast amounts of domain knowledge accessible within a few keystrokes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not every expert is a natural orator, so you will find some interviews that are less pointed than others.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No amount of earnings calls or company visits will provide the on-the-ground insider perspective that Stream offers
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You'll be hooked in a week.
