Great for organizing deadlines
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful part of Smartsheet is the ease at which you can view upcoming tasks and quickly mark off any completed tasks. It has definitely been one of the easier programs to use when dealing with colleagues.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main issue I've had is that when using it in conjunction with a business, it can be a little confusing when trying to find the "original" timeline to edit in order to have the other timelines update as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company and my teams have used it in order to simplify the process of meeting deadlines. Smartsheet emails everyone else in the group when a task is completed so that we know when it is our turn to complete a task.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Smartsheet should definitely be considered when trying to coordinate timelines between multiple parties within your organization.
Smartsheet brings together many complex features in a very user friendly experience.
What do you like best about the product?
The most unique and valuable feature of Smartsheet is how well it allows users to create links across multiple sheets. These sheets can hold very complex formulas and tons of data, and Smartsheet still has no problem linking them together seamlessly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were a wider variety of graph types available to plug right into dashboards. While the current graphs cover all the primary use types (and does it very well), the complexity of data in a lot of my sheets (that's in there because Smartsheet handles all the complex data so well) is often hard to represent with the current dashboard graph offerings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily solve Project Management related problems. This includes project tracking and scheduling, risk repository boards, and related documentation. Since using Smartsheet, the amount of time required to simply gather information has been reduced significantly. Instead of spending time tracking down numbers and asking individuals for updates, Smartsheet does all that for me. Now, I have a lot more time to solve genuine project problems instead.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a tool that combines all the best elements of MS Excel and Project, is versatile enough to support waterfall or agile projects, and has a ton of great ways for you to visualize data, I highly recommend Smartsheet. It does require some sort comfort or familarity with datasets or excel-type sheets for everyone using it, but it's so worth it for what you get.
A more secure replacement for Google sheets.
What do you like best about the product?
We needed a solution that was almost a direct replacement for Google sheets. Smartsheets was the only other solution that allowed multiple people to update sheets in real time, with forms feeding the sheets in real time. They are constantly updating the product and adding features and automation. Notifications go out to my team when they need to and I can set up a whole workflow of automations sending requests for approvals and notifying the correct people of what work needs to be done. Dashboards summarize the data for my team in one easy to find place.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside I can think of is that there is now a paid certification for the product. That just seems like a corporate "how can we create another revenue stream" project more than a desire to help users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A secure way to have our clients and partners send us information in a format that we choose, that feeds into sheets accessed by our employees to analyze business and provide services/improvements for clients. They also have robust automation that allows me to set up a workflow and forget it.
A Great Collaboration Workspace
What do you like best about the product?
I like that SmartSheet is easy to use, and easy to read.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike most about Smartsheet is that sometimes you have to repeatedly log in and out to see changes

The problems that my organization solves with Smartsheet relate to the successful management of projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend this product in its entirety. I've used it daily for 3+ years and couldn't imagine keeping track of projects without it.

Smartsheet can be a very quick and simple to use tool to break down a schedule, or can be used to the extreme and keep you from overallocating resources. Very flexible based on user skill level.
What do you dislike about the product?
Exporting schedules in a readable format is nearly impossible.

Keeping a project on time and determining the critical path.
Office Improvements using Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has allowed our business to add automation to allow for better communication. We utilize sheets to notify a specific person or department of a pending task or update.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet needs a function to turn off the request for a license. Admins receive emails constantly regarding a request for license even though the employees are not required to have one.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Specifically for my department, we have setup multiple sheets to make our internal processes more efficient. Managers can submit a request through a smartsheet form versus printing the form, filling it out, and then sending it via email. This process saves time for the managers and ensures that our department receives the necessary information all at one time.
Really good product- but missing some functionality
What do you like best about the product?
I love the conditional formatting in Smartsheet. I also really love the filters and that you can share them. I use it all of the time!
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like smartsheet is missing some basic functionality such as being able to filter based on columns (not only rows) or merge cells. I also would like to sort based on the same criteria without having to reset it every time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to create sheets for my entire team to use silmutaneously. This solves the problem of one team member overwriting the changes of another,
Valuable Features
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to search by the categories, such as project name, facility, building permit code, etc. It is most helpful when the list of projects our firm is dealing with at one time is lengthy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Regarding what is least helpful about Smartsheet, it would be useful if more features having to do with shifting and changing the aesthetic looks or organization of our content were available. It would be great if there was a 'dark mode' option too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One major benefit I have come to realize in my use of Smartsheet is the opportunity to organize much data and have it stationed in a singular place. For our firm, this allows us to go to one location, as opposed to sifting through our many project folders, for basic information. It has also been helpful in tracking project statuses, so that when one team member is out of office, we can still come to Smartsheet and confirm the status of a project or task.

I'm not the biggest fan of the card view and the calendar view.

Collaborate and Tracker Workflow
What do you like best about the product?
Automating workflow is one feature that we used extensively; we loved this feature the most.
Used to assign the workflow to our workforce, this helps multiple team members to update their project status at the same time.

What do you dislike about the product?
Having multiple tabs opened makes the browser slow. I liked the old format a little bit. There should have been an option to generate code that happens with the excel macro recorder automatically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use smartsheet as a project tracker. We created forms shared with the end-user to gather their requirements; thereby, we don't have to use resources to develop forms.
