Monitoring Tool for the Applications we support
What do you like best about the product?
Monitoring the application in real time and getting the alerts on time is very important since the production line is very important and I hope this can be achieved by the Solar Winds. As per the current environment this Solar winds application

As of now after reading the documentation I do not dislike any thing because everything seems to be perfect and suits our business model

Monitoring the applications , Getting the alerts frequently after some production shortfall

Can setup alerts for for when servers are down or rebooted.

I cannot think of anything that I do not like about it.

It has helped our business be more proactive with security and alerts.

the orion is the best thing from Solarwinds to monitor our network load etc

realy hard to configure and install corectly. support takes a lot of days to answers

What do you like best about the product?
* I like that you can configure the notificaions to show exactly what you want.
* I like how it can manage the network really easy and all the detailed information that provides in regards to Server monitoring.

What do you dislike about the product?
* RAM hungry eats alot of ram from the server that you are running the SQL in, ofcourse the ram usage only goes up with more assest being monotired.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sometimes our services when todwn with no apparent reason at all, now this software is letting us know when something is down and why? with specific details in how to reach that application or server that is having issues

This is a large solution for large enterprises but you can use it for every days small and medium business
5 years using it and really quite enjoying it
What do you like best about the product?
It has both simplicity and complexity. Meaning that it is very easy to setup the basics, allowing to start monitoring things quickly and then add the complexity as required. The custom properties allow for some much control and logic to built into the system. The GUI is also easy to use and customise.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would have said the mapping, but the latest release has made some real improvements.
The alert logic could have a little more depth, as an Orion user minimising alerts is two pronged fork, reduce the number (or improve the quality) of the alerts going out, but also minimise the number of alert configurations (less administration especially in multi-tenanted systems).

A very capable monitoring system, allowing enterprise scaling, at a reasonable cost.

What do you like best about the product?
Alerting system is highly customizable. Able to see uptime, logs, and performance with real-time, highly detailed stats. Able to even put diagrams on our front page of the layout of our data center. Great visual!

Can be a challenge to set up all the alerting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to have visibility to uptime, current performance stats, potential outages, service monitoring, etc. Helps keep a handle on our environment.

Terrific product, keeps us well informed of our environment and uptime. Solarwinds is crucial for any network environment.

What do you like best about the product?
We get alerts immediately when our servers are down or network connectivity has failed. It helps complete our initial troubleshooting on servers and find the problem before escalating it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support is not 100%. When we have urgent monitors informing us our servers are down we should expect a call from the service provider to inform us. However we have to call them and constantly chase for a solution or update even.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits we have realised is that we are alerted almost immediately once a server is down. Whether that be connectivity wise or power issue. It helps us investigate and troubleshoot to see if it an issue on our end.

Feature Rich Monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Several new and innovative additions to the new release. Contextual mapping available from supported hardware by a simple click of a submenu, with no additional configuration necessary
What do you dislike about the product?
They tend to stay on the upper edge of the supported platforms to run the latest platform. While support remains great for older versions of their software the latest and greatest requires late model OS and SQL. Thankfully the new online installer removes a lot of the upgrade anguish.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SolarWinds is rapidly added features that distinguish it from the Up or Down monitor technology. It provides detail information for sizing and growth to help in the budgeting process.

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of NPM in my opinion is the advanced alerts and all that you can do with them. Basic alerting will lead to many false positives but with NPM you can quiet your alerts down to just what you want to be alerted on... which is the main idea right?
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more alert actions available for advanced alerts. For example, rather than have a sound play, I would like a popup alert to trigger on all admin's desktops. There are ways to script something like this which just shows how flexible NPM is, but I would like to see more built in actions like a popup window for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the need for automatic problem resolution with NPM. This benefits us because things go bump in the night and we're not a 24/7 operation... with NPM we're able to monitor for those bumps and automate the fixes so we're not having to wake up and login for every little bump.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check out some of the other modules from Solarwinds that works in tandem with NPM. Server & Application Manager is my favorite and there are so many more to add on to this amazing tool belt called Network Performance Monitor
